Overview

The CONGA pendant lamp by FARO is an interior lighting piece designed for those who seek a defined style without complications. Its matte black finish and white papyrus shade create a combination that works well in bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. It also fits into hospitality projects, where the visual atmosphere matters as much as functionality.

This version comes with a plug and five metres of cable, which means there is no need to open the wall or hire an electrician to connect it. The hook is included, so you just need to choose the point on the ceiling where it will hang and you are done. It is a practical solution for anyone who wants to renew the lighting in a room without any construction work.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in designing lamps for interiors and exteriors. The CONGA collection is part of their Faro Lab line, focused on proposals with their own character.

Installation and specifications

For installation, this pendant lamp connects via a standard plug, with no need to wire it directly to the mains. The hook is fixed to the ceiling at the chosen point and the five-metre cable allows you to adjust the height at which the lamp will hang. Before hanging it, check that the ceiling fixing point can support the weight of the unit. It is not recommended to install it near heat sources or intense humidity.

For maintenance, clean the papyrus shade with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the surface. The black steel body can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Replace the bulb only when the lamp is switched off and the socket is cool.

Design and use

The CONGA collection offers an oval lamp with a clean and recognisable profile. The body is made of steel with a black finish, and the shade is manufactured from white papyrus, a material that filters light softly and creates a warm atmosphere without glare. The combination of black and white gives it a modern character that adapts to different interior styles without imposing too much.

The oval shade, with a diameter of five hundred millimetres, has enough visual presence to become a standout element on the ceiling. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with the rest of the furniture either. It integrates well in spaces where there is wood, natural textiles, or neutral surfaces.

In a living room, this pendant lamp can be placed above the coffee table or in a reading corner. The light it projects through the papyrus is diffused, which creates a more relaxed atmosphere than that of a direct spotlight. In the dining room, placed above the table, it adds warmth to the space during meals. In the kitchen, it can work as complementary ambient lighting if functional lighting already exists in the work area.

In a bedroom, a lamp of these characteristics serves as a good replacement for bedside tables with their own light. Hanging two units at the same height, one on each side of the bed, is a visually tidy and practically comfortable solution. In the bathroom, as long as it is installed outside directly wet zones, it can also provide a different ambient light from that of the usual wall lights.

The five-metre cable gives a great deal of flexibility in deciding the height at which the oval shade will hang. In high-ceilinged rooms, it can be left to drop quite low to bring the light closer to people. In low-ceilinged rooms, it is gathered up to leave only what is needed. This flexibility is a real advantage in apartments with different ceiling heights or in hospitality venues where the interior design varies from one space to another.

The included plug makes installation straightforward. There is no need to touch the property's wiring or wait for a technician. Simply fix the hook to the ceiling, run the cable, and plug in. That also means the lamp can be moved to a different room or apartment without complications. For rental projects or spaces that are frequently renewed, this feature has clear added value.

The E27 socket is compatible with low-consumption LED bulbs. The maximum admitted power is fifteen watts, sufficient for ambient lighting in medium-sized spaces. LED bulbs with this socket are easily found in any shop, which simplifies long-term maintenance.

Questions and answers

Can the five-metre cable be shortened if the ceiling is low?

Yes. The cable can be gathered and fixed at the height you need using the included hook. There is no need to cut it or make any permanent modifications.

Is the oval papyrus shade durable or does it deteriorate over time?

Papyrus is a material that holds up well in dry interiors. It is advisable to avoid very humid environments and to clean it with a dry cloth to extend its useful life.

Does this pendant lamp work with any E27 bulb on the market?

It works with any E27 socket bulb, including low-consumption LED ones. The maximum admitted power is 15 W, so this limit must be respected when choosing the bulb.
