Overview

TRAM is an outdoor wall light designed to be mounted directly on the wall. It is used to illuminate entrances, facades, terraces, and outdoor areas where the fixture must withstand both cold and heat as well as humidity. Its design, created by Estudi Ribaudí, combines an urban style with a construction built to resist outdoor conditions.

What sets this wall light apart is the way it distributes light. The diffuser is integrated with the structure, leaving slots through which light filters to the sides, creating a 360-degree enveloping effect. This is not a spotlight concentrated on a single point, but a lamp that illuminates the space in a broader and more balanced way.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Their products combine functional design with quality materials, built to last and adapt to different environments.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light on an exterior wall, it is recommended to have an electrician or someone with basic electrical installation knowledge. The fixture mounts directly onto the vertical surface. Before starting, make sure the electrical supply is switched off. The working voltage is 100 V to 240 V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. It is advisable to choose a bulb that does not exceed 15 W to respect the indicated maximum wattage.

The microtextured aluminium body requires no special maintenance, but it is a good idea to occasionally clean the surface with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Solvents or aggressive chemical products should not be used, as they can damage both the body's finish and the diffuser material. If the wall light is installed in a dusty area or near the sea, more frequent cleaning is recommended.

Design and use

The TRAM wall light by FARO is made of aluminium with a microtextured matt white finish. This material withstands temperature changes, sun exposure, and the humidity typical of an outdoor environment. The reduced weight, less than one kilogram, makes handling easier during installation without compromising the solidity of the assembly.

The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish. This material allows light to pass through in a diffused way, without visible bright spots or hard shadows. The connection between the diffuser and the wall light structure is not conventional: the slots left between the two parts allow light to also exit through the sides, generating a luminous effect that surrounds the lamp completely. The result is a livelier illumination with more visual presence than that of a standard wall light.

This type of lamp works well at the entrances of single-family homes, where the facade needs some light without the light point being excessive. It also fits in gardens, especially near doors, stairs, or passageways. On a terrace, the wall light can be installed on the side wall to illuminate the space without needing a spotlight or ceiling lamp.

Although it does not have an integrated motion sensor, it can be combined without issue with external detectors or timers to automate switching. This is useful if it is installed in an area where sunlight does not reach directly and darkness falls abruptly, or at accesses that are frequently used at night.

Its style is urban without being aggressive. The matt white does not draw excessive attention and adapts to both modern facades and surfaces with more neutral finishes. It is neither a classic-design lantern nor a heavy-looking industrial wall light. It is a luminaire that integrates naturally into the environment without disappearing entirely.

The compact format, with 190 mm in height and just 98 mm in width, makes it suitable for spaces where there is little room between windows, frames, or corners. It can be installed alone or in pairs on either side of an entrance, giving a balanced and symmetrical result. In a courtyard or inner garden it also serves its purpose well when mounted on a wall.

The compatible E27 LED bulb allows choosing between different colour temperatures depending on what is preferred for each area. A warmer light creates a cosier atmosphere; a more neutral one is more functional for entrances or security areas.

Questions and answers

Does the TRAM wall light include the E27 LED bulb?

No, the bulb is not included. It must be purchased separately. A bulb with an E27 base and a maximum wattage of 15 W is required.

Does the lamp emit light only to the front or also to the sides?

The diffuser and structure are designed to allow light to exit through side slots, generating a 360-degree distribution. It is not a directional spotlight, but a luminaire that illuminates in an enveloping way.

Is this wall light compatible with external motion detectors?

Yes. Although the wall light does not include its own motion sensor, it can be connected to an external detector installed in the electrical circuit. This allows automating the switching according to the needs of each installation.
