The TOND 2L wall light by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed for wall mounting. Its compact shape and dark grey finish make it suitable for facades, columns, entrances and terraces where a clean result is sought, without elements that draw more attention than the illuminated space itself.

The lamp emits light in two directions simultaneously, allowing effects to be created on the vertical surface where it is installed. This works well on stone columns or textured facade walls, where the downward and upward light reveals the relief of the material. The wall light has IP54 certification, indicating that it is protected against dust and against water splashes from any direction.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, a recessed connection box in the surface or access to wiring from the wall is required. Before starting the installation, cut the power at the electrical panel. Check that the fixing area is solid and can hold the wall light securely without it coming loose. The aluminium body is anchored directly onto the wall with the included fastening elements. If the installation is on a facade exposed to rainwater, make sure to seal the cable entry points properly.

The aluminium body can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The transparent glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or damp cloth without pressing too hard. Do not handle the lamp while it is on or connected to the power supply. Periodically check the condition of the exterior wiring and anchor points, especially if the wall light is in an area with sudden temperature changes.

Design and use

The TOND 2L is an outdoor wall light with a body made from injection-moulded aluminium. This material withstands outdoor conditions well: it does not rust easily, is lightweight and maintains its shape under temperature changes. The dark grey finish is neutral and adapts effortlessly to concrete, natural stone, exposed brick or modern cladding surfaces.

The transparent glass diffuser allows the inside of the lamp to be seen, but without being obtrusive. The integrated COB LED light source projects the beam in two directions simultaneously: upwards and downwards. This creates a play of light on the wall that is especially visible at night, when the contrast with the surroundings is greatest. On an entrance column, for example, this effect gives the architectural element greater presence without the need to add more spotlights or additional wall lights.

The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to that of traditional incandescent bulbs. It is a tone that does not distort natural materials or create the coldness that is sometimes associated with outdoor LED lighting. On a terrace, this warmth makes the night-time atmosphere more pleasant for being outdoors, without the light being harsh or causing glare.

The IP54 protection rating ensures that the wall light can be installed in areas exposed to splashes or occasional rain. It is not a luminaire designed to be submerged, but it is suitable for outdoor wall installation under normal conditions: an entrance, the side facade of a house, a garden wall or the edge of a partially covered terrace.

Its size is compact, with a height of 138 mm and a diameter of 80 mm. This allows it to be placed on surfaces where a bulkier wall light would look out of scale. On narrow columns or facades with little space between windows, the TOND 2L fits without taking up too much visual prominence.

Although the lighting it produces is decorative and architectural, it also serves a practical function at access points: it visually marks the entrance, defines the boundaries of the space and improves orientation outdoors when there is no sunlight. A pair of wall lights placed at the same height on both sides of a main door creates a clean symmetry that organises the facade. It can also be used in series along a garden wall or a covered outdoor corridor, spaced at regular intervals.

It does not incorporate a motion sensor or any automatic detection system. It operates with manual switching or with the timer or switch on the circuit it is connected to. It also does not rely on solar energy, as it is powered directly from the mains at 220V-240V.

Questions and answers

Is the COB LED lamp included inside the wall light or does it need to be purchased separately?

Yes, the COB LED light source is already integrated into the TOND 2L wall light. It does not need to be purchased separately or installed before mounting the luminaire.

What does it mean exactly that the wall light is bidirectional?

It means that it emits light simultaneously upwards and downwards from the same body. This allows a lighting effect to be created on the wall or column in both directions at once, without the need to install two separate wall lights.

Is the IP54 protection rating sufficient for installation on an outdoor facade exposed to rain?

IP54 indicates protection against dust and against water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for installation on an outdoor facade under normal rain conditions. It is not designed to be submerged or for exposure to direct pressurised water jets.
