Overview

The FARO SCUBA LOUVER 1200 is a wall light designed primarily for outdoor use, although it also works very well indoors where a clear industrial character is desired. It mounts directly on the wall and projects the beam of light through a tube section, allowing the illumination to be directed precisely without the overall look feeling cluttered.

The lamp has an IP65 protection rating, meaning it withstands rain, dust, and moisture without issue. It also has an IK10 impact resistance rating, the highest in its category. This makes it useful for home entrances, garages, facades, or any area exposed to harsh conditions. The inclined anti-glare louver reduces eye strain, something particularly noticeable when the lamp is at eye level.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Their products combine structural solidity with a design that does not seek to draw attention, but rather to integrate well into the space.

Installation and specifications

For wall installation, it is recommended to verify that the surface is solid and capable of supporting the weight of the fixture. It is important to leave the electrical connection to a certified professional, especially in outdoor installations where the watertightness of the wiring is essential. Before securing the lamp, make sure the circuit is de-energized.

The aluminum body requires no special maintenance, but it is advisable to clean the surface with a damp cloth without abrasive products. In coastal areas or areas with high humidity, periodic cleaning helps keep the black finish in good condition. The interior of the luminaire must not be handled without disconnecting it from the electrical mains.

Design and use

The SCUBA LOUVER 1200 has an elongated tubular shape 1200 mm in length, with a 70 x 70 mm section. That slim, straight profile gives it a neat appearance that fits well on both modern facades and spaces with a more industrial or austere touch. The black color of the body reinforces that aesthetic line without the need for ornamentation.

The body is made of aluminum, a material that withstands temperature changes and prolonged sun exposure well without deforming or losing its properties. This is not a fixture that will deteriorate within a few years from being outdoors. The IP65 protection ensures that neither rainwater nor dust can compromise the internal functioning of the lamp.

The IK10 resistance adds another layer of reassurance in environments where there is a risk of accidental impact, such as garages, high-traffic areas, or patios with intense activity. It is not a fragile lamp, and that is noticeable when you hold it before installation.

The light source is SMD LED type, included with the product. It operates at 2700K, a warm color temperature that produces light similar to a classic incandescent bulb. That tone is comfortable for the eyes and creates a welcoming atmosphere at entrances, terraces, or gardens. It does not produce that cold, clinical light that sometimes feels uncomfortable in residential outdoor settings.

The inclined anti-glare louver is one of the most useful elements of this fixture. It allows light to reach where it is needed without the light source being directly exposed to view. This reduces glare when someone walks nearby or looks in the direction of the lamp. On a frequently used terrace or at the entrance of a home, that detail makes a difference in everyday comfort.

The fixture can be used on building facades, garden walls, porches, outdoor corridors, or even indoors in an industrial style, such as commercial premises, converted warehouses, or converted garages. In interior spaces it works well on exposed brick walls, concrete, or dark cladding, where the black body integrates naturally.

Although the lamp does not include a motion sensor or built-in detector, it can be combined with an external sensor installed in the electrical circuit. This combination is common in access points and passageways where automated switching is desired without relying on a manual switch. It is also compatible with solar timers if managed from the electrical panel.

In gardens or patios with several distinct zones, multiple fixtures of this model installed on the perimeter wall can create uniform and consistent lighting. The elongated format allows broad wall strips to be covered with a single luminaire, simplifying installation and reducing the number of connection points required.

Questions and answers

Can the SCUBA LOUVER 1200 fixture be installed on a facade directly exposed to rain?

Yes. The lamp has IP65 certification, which guarantees complete protection against dust and direct water jets. It is suitable for outdoor installation without additional covering.

What type of light does it emit and how effective is it at a distance on a garden wall?

The SMD LED source operates at 2700K, a warm tone similar to incandescent light. With 36W of power, the fixture illuminates wall surfaces and the immediate surroundings well. The effective distance depends on the orientation of the louver and the conditions of the space.

Is the anti-glare louver adjustable in angle or is it fixed in a specific position?

The louver is inclined in a fixed position set at the factory, designed to project the beam of light downward and reduce direct glare. It is not adjustable by the user once the fixture is mounted.
