The SCUBA 1200 wall light by FARO is a lamp designed to be mounted on a wall, both in outdoor spaces and in interiors where a more robust and defined finish is desired. Its strong point is its construction: 316L stainless steel, IP66 protection and IK10 impact resistance. This means it easily withstands rain, humidity, dust and everyday knocks.

The light beam exits through one side of the tube, giving it a distinctive and directional character. It is not a neutral background lamp — it has presence. It fits well in entrances, corridors, façades or any corner where lighting with an industrial personality is desired.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is essential that the work is carried out by a certified electrician. Before starting, the power must be cut at the electrical panel. The lamp is fixed directly to the wall using anchors appropriate for the type of surface. The finishing rosette is not included with the product and is sold separately under reference 75755. Check that the surface where the wall light is installed is firm and that the junction box is properly protected.

To keep the wall light in good condition, simply clean the surface of the steel body with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The PC diffuser can be cleaned with water and mild soap. Although the luminaire has IP66 protection, it is not recommended to expose it directly to pressurised water jets. Periodically check that the anchors are firmly secured, especially if the installation is outdoors.

Design and use

The SCUBA 1200 has a shape that does not go unnoticed. It is a long tube — 1240 mm — of 316L stainless steel with a chrome finish, mounted on the wall horizontally or vertically depending on the orientation that best suits the space. The light is projected through a side opening in the tube, creating a defined line of light rather than diffuse, enveloping illumination. This gives the wall light a very specific character: it does not illuminate in the background, it makes a statement.

The opal polycarbonate diffuser slightly softens the light output without losing the direction of the beam. The colour temperature of 3000K offers a warm light, closer to that of the classic incandescent than to cold white light. It is a tone that works well both outdoors and indoors, as it does not distort the colours of the surroundings and creates a more welcoming atmosphere.

As an outdoor wall light, the SCUBA easily withstands rain thanks to its IP66 protection rating. It also withstands knocks and impacts with IK10 certification, making it suitable for passageways, entrances or façades where pedestrian traffic may be frequent. The 316L stainless steel provides corrosion resistance, particularly useful in environments with high humidity or proximity to the sea.

On a terrace, the wall light works well mounted on a perimeter wall or enclosure wall, providing a strip of light that defines the space without the need to install multiple light points. In a garden, it can mark a path or illuminate an outdoor seating area. On a façade, it gives character to the building and improves the visibility of the entrance without resorting to a conventional lantern.

Indoors, the SCUBA fits in long corridors, staircases or spaces with an industrial or contemporary style where a luminaire with a certain visual impact is desired. It is not a lamp designed to blend into the surroundings — it is an element that stands out. If the rest of the space features materials such as concrete, dark wood or metal, the chrome finish of the SCUBA integrates with ease.

The fixing is directly onto the wall or ceiling. The 36W SMD LED lamp is included, so no additional purchase is needed to get it up and running, except for the finishing rosette if you want to cover the junction box more neatly. That accessory (ref. 75755) is compatible with both the wall light version and the suspension version, making it suitable for different configurations of the same SCUBA model.

The total weight is 1.62 kg, which makes it manageable during installation but requires a solid fixing, especially outdoors where wind can generate lateral load.

Does the SCUBA 1200 wall light include a motion sensor or presence detector?

No, the SCUBA 1200 wall light does not include a motion sensor or any type of detector. It is a direct-switch luminaire with no integrated automation. If a sensor-based system is needed, it would need to be incorporated externally in the installation.

Is the rosette included with the wall light or does it need to be purchased separately?

The rosette is not included. It is sold separately under reference 75755 and is compatible with both the wall light version and the suspension version of the SCUBA model. It is an optional accessory, useful for achieving a neater finish in the connection area.

Does the IP66 protection allow the wall light to be installed directly exposed to rain?

Yes. The IP66 rating indicates that the luminaire is protected against the ingress of dust and against powerful water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor installation without the need for additional cover, including areas exposed to direct rain.
