Overview

The FARO KOV wall light is an outdoor lamp designed for spaces where lighting needs to be both functional and unobtrusive. It mounts directly onto the wall and provides warm, well-directed light without any distracting elements. It is a solid option for those looking for a wall light with a clean design, free of unnecessary ornamentation.

What sets this wall light apart is its ability to emit light in one or two directions, depending on how it is oriented during installation. It can also be mounted both vertically and horizontally, which allows for flexibility when adapting it to different surfaces and compositions. The light source is recessed, which prevents direct glare and improves visual comfort.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Their products combine technical precision with refined forms, designed to integrate into different types of environments without imposing a particular style.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, an accessible power outlet is required in the intended area. It is fixed directly to the wall using the included anchors. Before starting, it is advisable to check that the surface is firm and that the wiring is correctly switched off at the electrical panel. If there is no prior experience with electrical installations, it is recommended to seek the help of an electrician.

For maintenance, simply clean the surface of the wall light with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white aluminium finish should not be used. As this is an outdoor lamp, it is advisable to periodically check that the anchor points are in good condition and that there is no dirt accumulation in the drainage area.

Design and use

The KOV is an outdoor wall light with a round shape and a compact profile. Its body is made of aluminium with a white finish, a material that withstands outdoor conditions well without losing its neat appearance over time. The dimensions are modest: 108 mm in height, 80 mm in diameter and 87 mm in depth. This makes it particularly suitable for spaces where you do not want the lamp to take up too much visual prominence.

The integrated COB LED light source emits at 2700K, a colour temperature that corresponds to a warm light close to the tone of the sun at sunset. This type of light creates a calm atmosphere outdoors, without the coldness of whiter lights. The 23-degree beam angle concentrates the light precisely, which is useful when you want to illuminate a specific area of the façade, an entrance or an architectural feature on the wall.

One of the distinctive features of this lamp's design is its internal drainage system. Outdoors, water can accumulate inside luminaires if they are not prepared for it, which over time affects both the functioning and the appearance of the wall light. The KOV includes a mechanism that prevents this stagnation, something that is particularly appreciated in areas with frequent rainfall or in installations near the garden.

The option of unidirectional or bidirectional lighting adds versatility to this wall light. In unidirectional mode, the beam is directed to one side and concentrates the light on a specific area. In bidirectional mode, the light is distributed in two directions, which can be useful for more broadly illuminating a terrace or an outdoor corridor. This choice is made at the time of installation and does not require any additional accessories.

The option to mount it vertically or horizontally further expands the usage possibilities. A wall light that only accepts one orientation can restrict how luminaires are distributed across a façade or an exterior wall. With the KOV that limitation does not exist, making freer compositions easier to achieve.

In terms of integration into the environment, the white finish of the wall light works well both on light-coloured walls, where it almost disappears, and on darker surfaces, where it becomes a visible detail without being jarring. It is a design that does not seek to draw attention, but whose absence is noticed. It can be combined with other luminaires from the KOV range to create a coherent lighting scheme on a terrace, at the entrance to a home or along a garden.

The 6W power output is sufficient for its intended use: accent and orientation lighting outdoors, not general lighting for large areas. For those planning to install multiple light points, it is a lamp that allows for multiplication without significantly increasing consumption.

Questions and answers

Can this wall light be mounted horizontally as well as vertically?

Yes. The KOV's design allows it to be installed both vertically and horizontally on the wall, without the need for additional accessories. This flexibility makes different compositions on façades or exterior walls easier to achieve.

Is the COB LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the integrated COB LED light source. It does not need to be purchased separately or matched with other types of bulb.

Does the drainage system require any specific maintenance?

No regular intervention is required. It is advisable to periodically check that the drainage area is not blocked by dirt or accumulated debris, especially if the wall light is in a garden or in an environment with nearby vegetation.
