Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed for those who want functional lighting without sacrificing a clean, restrained design. It mounts directly on the wall and works well on facades, entrances, covered terraces, or passageways. The light source is recessed inside the body, which prevents direct glare and allows comfortable use even when people are nearby.

One of its particular features is that it can be mounted vertically or horizontally, providing some flexibility when positioning it according to the available space. It also supports a unidirectional or bidirectional configuration, depending on the direction in which the light needs to be projected.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in luminaire design for residential and contract use. Their outdoor products are built to withstand the real conditions of everyday use, and the KOV wall light is no exception.

Installation and specifications

For installation, you will need a flush-mounted junction box in the wall or a firm fixing surface. The wall light connects to the standard 220V–240V electrical network, so it is recommended that the wiring work be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before mounting the lamp, check that the support is level and that the cables are long enough to reach the internal terminals comfortably.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminium surface with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish. Since this is an outdoor wall light, periodically check that there is no dirt build-up in the drainage system, which is responsible for preventing water from pooling inside the body.

Design and use

The KOV wall light has a square-shaped aluminium body with a matte black finish. The compact dimensions — 108 mm high, 80 mm long, and 87 mm deep — make it suitable for spaces where a larger lamp would be excessive. It weighs 0.7 kg, so it does not require any special anchors beyond those typically used for this type of wall mounting.

The light source is a COB LED included as standard, with a colour temperature of 3000K. This means a warm light, close to yellowish white, which is neither cold nor clinical. It is a tone that works well in residential outdoor settings because it does not distort the colours of the surroundings or create a feeling of coldness. The 34-degree beam angle concentrates the light precisely, making it possible to highlight specific elements such as an entrance, an access point, or a section of wall.

One of the advantages of this spotlight is precisely that control over the direction of the light. It does not illuminate in all directions in a diffuse manner, but rather directs the beam where it is needed. This is useful on facades where contrast is desired, or in passageways where lighting needs to be practical and directed.

The lighting system can be configured as unidirectional, when light is only needed in one direction, or bidirectional, to cover two directions at once. This option expands installation possibilities without requiring an additional wall light. The ability to mount the lamp both vertically and horizontally also allows it to adapt to different types of walls and layouts.

The technical design of the KOV incorporates an integrated drainage system that prevents water from being retained inside. In areas where it rains frequently or where the wall light is exposed to humidity, this detail has a real impact on the durability of the product. Aluminium as the body material also helps the wall light withstand temperature changes and prolonged sun exposure over time.

In terms of aesthetic integration, the black finish and square profile fit seamlessly on contemporary facades, in gardens with neat vegetation, or on terraces with a sober treatment of materials. It also works alongside other luminaires in the same range, to create a coherent line along a path, a patio, or an entrance. The motion sensor is not included in this model, but the installation can be complemented with an external detector if automated switching is desired.

With only 6W of power, the spotlight has a low consumption for continuous outdoor use. The included LED is ready to operate from the first moment, with no need to purchase an additional light source.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be installed both vertically and horizontally?

Yes. The design of the wall light allows it to be fixed to the wall in both positions, providing flexibility when adapting it to different installation configurations.

Is the COB LED light source included with the wall light?

Yes, the LED is included as standard. There is no need to purchase any additional lamp to get the wall light up and running.

Does the KOV drainage system really protect against continuous rainfall?

The system is integrated into the aluminium body and is specifically designed to prevent water from accumulating inside. Even so, it is recommended to periodically check that the drainage is free of obstructions, especially in areas with nearby vegetation or environmental dirt.
