Overview

The DORO wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It is made of aluminium with a prismatic glass diffuser, and projects light in both directions, making it especially useful at entrances, façades, outdoor corridors and covered terraces. Its dark grey finish works well with concrete, stone or modern cladding surfaces.

It has IP65 certification, which guarantees protection against rain and dust ingress. This means it can be installed outdoors without concern, even in areas exposed to typical weather conditions. The SMD LED light source is already included, so there is no need to purchase it separately.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in home and outdoor lighting. Their products combine functionality with careful design, built to last and adapt to different environments.

Installation and specifications

Installation of the wall light on an exterior wall is recommended to be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before starting, it is necessary to cut the power at the electrical panel. Fixing is done directly onto the vertical surface. It must be ensured that the wall can support the weight of the wall light and that the cables are properly protected before sealing. Since this is an outdoor luminaire with IP65, it is advisable to check that all closures and gaskets are properly adjusted after installation.

To clean the aluminium body, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish should not be used. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or minimally damp cloth. It is recommended to periodically check the condition of the wall light, especially after periods of heavy rain or strong wind.

Design and use

The DORO wall light has a compact profile and a discreet visual presence. Its reduced dimensions, 220 mm in length and 48 mm in height, allow it to be integrated in spaces where a larger lamp would be excessive. The depth of 70 mm means it protrudes just enough from the wall, without interfering with passage or taking up unnecessary space.

The aluminium body provides both strength and lightness. It is a material that does not oxidise easily and tolerates temperature changes well, making it suitable for a lamp designed for outdoor use. The dark grey finish gives a solid and neutral appearance, which does not draw too much attention but does not go unnoticed either. It fits with surfaces of different colours and textures, from whitewashed façades to stone walls or more modern cladding.

The prismatic glass diffuser distributes light evenly. By projecting in both directions, the lamp illuminates a wide strip of the wall or nearby surroundings, which is practical both for orientation and for creating a pleasant atmosphere on terraces or in gardens. The colour temperature of 3000K produces warm light, closer to the tone of classic incandescent than to cold white light. This means the space does not lose warmth after dark.

Although designed for outdoor use, the DORO wall light's design is sober enough to work in transition zones between indoor and outdoor spaces as well, such as porches, pergolas or entrance halls. In those spaces the lamp adapts effortlessly to the style of the surroundings.

Regarding indoor use, the luminaire can equally be installed in wide corridors, well-ventilated bathrooms or in any room where a lateral light point on the wall is desired. In a living room, for example, it can complement the main lighting by creating a more enveloping light zone. In a bedroom or dining room, a wall light of these characteristics adds depth to the space without relying on ceiling or floor lamps. In the kitchen too, it can be useful as ambient light when functional lighting is already resolved.

In a bathroom, the combination of a wall light on each side of the mirror is a common solution that improves light quality for everyday use. The dark grey finish of the DORO contrasts well with white or light-toned walls, which are most common in bathrooms and bedrooms. In longer corridors, installing two units symmetrically can be an effective way to provide lighting without installing ceiling light points.

The weight of 0.64 kg makes the wall light easy to handle during installation. It does not require special wall reinforcements if the wall is masonry or plasterboard with suitable anchoring. The already integrated LED light source avoids having to search for compatible bulbs separately.

Questions and answers

Can the DORO wall light be installed in an area directly exposed to rain?

Yes. The wall light has IP65 certification, which means it is protected against water ingress in the form of rain and against dust and solid particles. It can be installed on façades or entrances exposed to typical weather conditions without any problem.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included with the wall light. No additional bulb needs to be purchased. The lamp is ready to connect once the electrical installation is complete.

In which direction does this wall light project light?

The light is projected in both directions from the wall light, not in a single direction. This allows a wider strip of the surroundings to be illuminated, which is especially useful in outdoor corridors, entrances or façades where greater surface coverage is desired from a single light point.
