Overview

The FARO STRIPE-2 is a recessed wall light designed for installation in outdoor spaces. Its elongated format and matte white finish make it suitable for facades, entrances, and areas where clean, discreet lighting is desired. It is recessed into the wall so it does not protrude like a traditional lantern — it integrates into the surface and provides light without taking up visual space.

Its IP54 protection allows it to function without issues in rain and dust, making it a valid option for outdoor use year-round. The included SMD LED operates at 3000K, a warm color temperature that is pleasant to the eye and complements both modern facades and gardens with vegetation.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products are manufactured with attention to detail in materials and finishes, with consideration for both technical performance and aesthetic integration within the space.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed wall light, it is recommended to cut the wall to the exact dimensions indicated in the data sheet. The wiring must be concealed inside the wall before fitting the luminaire. It is advisable to have the installation carried out by a qualified electrician, as this is an outdoor luminaire with a direct mains connection. Check that the recessed box or wall cavity has sufficient depth to accommodate the body of the light. Make sure to cut the power before beginning any electrical work.

To keep the light in good condition, occasionally clean the outer surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte white aluminium finish. The opal PC diffuser is durable, but avoid striking it during cleaning. Do not handle the luminaire with the power on.

Design and use

The STRIPE-2 has a body made of aluminium, a material that combines lightness with corrosion resistance. Outdoors, this makes a difference over time: aluminium does not degrade with moisture or lose its shape under temperature changes. The matte white finish is uniform and holds up well under normal outdoor use conditions.

The diffuser is made of polycarbonate (PC) with an opal finish. This material distributes light evenly, without creating bright spots or harsh shadows. The light it emits covers the area softly, which is useful both for illuminating an entrance and for creating a balanced atmosphere in the garden or on the side wall of a home.

At 233 mm long and 100 mm tall, the light has an elongated and compact silhouette. When recessed into the wall it sits flush with the surface, which sets it apart from a conventional surface-mounted light. This makes it particularly suitable for spaces where the luminaire is not meant to draw too much attention, but simply to fulfil its function effectively and neatly.

The 3000K color temperature produces a warm light. This tone is perceived as closer to traditional incandescent light and fits well in residential outdoor settings: house facades, entrances, garden areas, or patios. A lamp with this type of light does not feel cold or clinical, but instead creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere as night falls.

The 5W SMD LED consumes very little energy compared to older solutions. It is not necessary to replace the light source frequently, as it comes included and is designed to operate long-term without the need for regular maintenance.

The universal voltage between 100V and 240V makes the light compatible with the standard electrical installation of any home. It does not require transformers or special adaptations.

The STRIPE-2 pairs well with other outdoor lighting elements: adjustable spotlights, surface-mounted lights, or floor luminaires. For those with a garden with paths or walkways, this recessed wall light can work alongside a floor spotlight to distribute light in a balanced way. On a facade with stone or white stucco, the matte white of the light integrates without creating excessive contrast.

It also works in covered outdoor spaces, such as porches or entrances with a roof, where the IP54 protection remains a useful feature even if rain does not fall directly on the luminaire. In these settings, the recessed light provides clean illumination without visible cables or protruding bodies that easily accumulate dust or insects.

Questions and answers

Does the STRIPE-2 withstand direct rain or only splashing?

The IP54 protection indicates that the light resists water splashing from any direction, but it is not designed to withstand pressurised water jets or immersion. It is suitable for outdoor use under normal rain conditions.

What is the minimum wall thickness required to correctly recess this light?

The body of the light has a depth of 84 mm, so the wall or surface where it is installed must allow at least that interior space to accommodate the luminaire without forcing the fit.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 5W SMD LED light source comes included with the light. It does not need to be purchased separately or require any additional adaptation before installation.
