Overview

This LED in-ground recessed spotlight from FARO is designed to be installed in gardens, terraces, patios, and outdoor access areas where discreet yet functional lighting is needed. It is recessed flush with the floor, allowing luminous pathways to be created without visual obstacles or elements protruding from the pavement. It is a common solution for garden paths, terrace edges, or access routes to the main facade of a home.

The spotlight emits warm light at 3000K with an integrated 7W COB LED source, equivalent to a pleasant temperature that does not distort the colors of the surroundings. The transparent glass distributes light cleanly upward, marking the path without causing glare. The housing is made of 316L stainless steel with a satin finish, providing resistance to moisture, environmental salt, and continuous outdoor use.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its outdoor catalog is aimed at residential and commercial environments that require durable materials and a design that fits in without drawing too much attention.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a recess must be prepared in the floor with the indicated dimensions for the mounting box, which is included in the package along with the driver. Before starting, it is advisable to verify that the pavement is thick enough to accommodate the depth of the assembly. The wiring must be protected and kept away from damp areas. It is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician or person experienced in outdoor installations. The accepted supply voltage ranges from 100V to 240V, allowing direct connection to the domestic power supply without additional adapters.

For cleaning the body, a damp cloth is sufficient and, if necessary, a neutral soap. Abrasive products or those containing chlorine that could affect the stainless steel finish must be avoided. The glass can be cleaned with standard glass products, without rubbing with elements that could scratch the surface. Although 316L stainless steel is especially resistant to corrosion, periodic maintenance extends the useful life of the spotlight and preserves the original appearance of the satin finish.

Design and use

The outdoor in-ground recessed spotlight from FARO is a compact fixture that integrates into the floor leaving no visible trace beyond the glass and the slim steel ring. The design is clean and unadorned, intended to go unnoticed during the day and fulfill its function when night falls.

The combination of 316L stainless steel and aluminum in the body is no coincidence. 316L is the most corrosion-resistant grade among commonly used stainless steels, especially in environments with humidity or salinity. This makes it a suitable option for gardens with frequent irrigation, coastal areas, or patios exposed to direct rain. The aluminum adds lightness without reducing the solidity of the assembly.

The transparent glass covering the light source is prepared to withstand impacts with an IK08 resistance rating, meaning it can endure blows of considerable intensity without breaking. In addition, it allows vehicle traffic of up to 600 kg, making it suitable for light vehicle transit areas, such as garage access routes or estate paths. There is no need to plan its location based solely on pedestrian traffic: it can be installed in vehicle transit areas without issue.

The 7W COB LED source emits 280 lumens at 3000K. This warm color temperature is the most common in residential outdoor settings because it creates a calm atmosphere, similar to a traditional incandescent bulb, without the cool tone that can sometimes feel too clinical for a garden or private terrace. The color rendering index above 80 ensures that the colors of plants, stone, or wood in the surroundings appear natural, without perceptible distortion.

Regarding installation, the mounting box and driver are included, which simplifies the purchase and avoids the need to source additional components. The spotlight can be mounted in stone, concrete, or outdoor decking pavements, provided the substrate has sufficient depth to accommodate the assembly. On a well-finished facade or the floor of a patio, a row of these spotlights produces orderly lighting that visually defines the space without the need for lampposts or poles.

The lighting produced by this recessed spotlight is not designed to illuminate large surfaces, but rather to guide, signal, and create atmosphere. In that sense, it works very well combined with other outdoor light points, whether wall-mounted projectors or higher-powered luminaires covering the general lighting of the garden or terrace. This spotlight occupies its place in the ensemble without competing with anything, doing its work from the floor upward.
