Overview

The FARO beacon is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed on the walls of terraces, patios and garden areas. Its dark grey die-cast aluminium body and translucent glass diffuser make it a luminaire that combines durability with a clean, neat visual result. It is a suitable option for those looking to illuminate the exterior perimeter of their home without sacrificing aesthetic coherence.

This wall lantern provides soft, diffused light with no direct bright spots. The translucent glass distributes illumination evenly, which is especially useful in entrances, outdoor corridors or passageways where visibility is needed without glare.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in luminaires for residential and architectural use. Their outdoor products are designed for real environments: materials that withstand the humidity, wind and temperature changes typical of outdoor use.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall-mounted lamp, it is advisable to have a flush-mounted junction box in the wall or a surface cable outlet, depending on the desired finish. As this is an outdoor lantern, the wiring must be protected with materials suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if it involves work near wet areas such as swimming pools or fountains. The wall fixing must be done with plugs and screws appropriate for the type of wall, bearing in mind that the net weight of the unit is 2.32 kg.

To keep the aluminium body in good condition, simply clean the surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a slightly damp microfibre cloth. Before any cleaning or maintenance task, always disconnect the lamp from the power supply.

Design and use

This wall lantern from the FARO brand is built in die-cast aluminium, a material that is worked with precision and offers good resistance to outdoor conditions. The dark grey finish gives it a modern and neutral appearance, easy to integrate into facades of different colours and styles. It is not a striking lamp, but one that complements its surroundings well without imposing itself.

The translucent glass diffuser is one of the most notable elements of this beacon. Unlike opaque diffusers, translucent glass allows light to pass through softly, creating a uniform halo around the lantern. This is especially useful on terraces or patios where ambient lighting is desired without harsh spotlights or strong shadows. Placed at the right height on the wall, the visual column this lamp creates guides the eye along the outdoor path.

The lamp works with an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W, although it is not included in the package. This choice allows the user to select the colour temperature that best suits the atmosphere they are looking for: warmer light for a domestic terrace, or a more neutral tone for an access or entrance with higher foot traffic. Compatibility with the 100V–240V voltage range makes it suitable for installations in different countries without the need for adapters.

In terms of dimensions, with a height of 230 mm and a depth and length of 190 mm, it is a compact lamp that does not take up too much space on the wall. This makes it especially suitable for narrow walls, pillars or entrance columns where available space is limited. In a garden, it can be combined with floor lights or with a taller post to create different levels of lighting and generate visual depth in the space.

The dark grey colour of the body works well alongside materials such as natural stone, exposed concrete or timber treated for outdoor use. On a terrace with a dark paved floor or with vegetation in the background, this lantern integrates without looking out of place. It can also be used in symmetrical pairs on either side of a door or entrance, creating a balanced and orderly effect.

For those with a garden, placing one or more beacons of this type along a path or at the boundaries of a landscaped area helps to define the space and make it walkable at night without the need to install a taller post. In an interior or semi-covered patio it can also work well, as long as the area is protected from direct rain on the wiring.

Questions and answers

Does this lamp include the E27 LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. You will need to purchase an E27 screw cap bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. You can choose the colour temperature you prefer, as the translucent glass diffuser works well with both warm and neutral light.

Does the dark grey aluminium body maintain its finish well over time when used outdoors?

Die-cast aluminium is a material that does not rust like iron and withstands outdoor exposure well. With periodic cleaning using a damp cloth and without using abrasive products, the dark grey finish stays in good condition for years.

Can this beacon be installed on a brick or stone wall without any problems?

Yes. As it is a wall-mounted lamp, it can be installed on different types of wall as long as the appropriate plugs and screws are used for each material. The net weight of the unit is 2.32 kg, so the fixing must be firm and secure.
