Overview

SCREEN is a technical outdoor lighting collection by the brand FARO. This wall-mounted light is designed for those who need a durable and functional lamp in outdoor spaces: gardens, entrances, patios, or parks. It is not primarily a decorative piece, but rather a luminaire that fulfills its function without drawing too much attention to itself.

The lantern mounts directly onto the wall, with no additional structures or post. Its dark grey finish integrates well with concrete, stone, or ceramic surfaces. The housing combines aluminum and polycarbonate, two materials that hold up well in outdoor conditions without requiring frequent maintenance.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting design. Their outdoor products are designed to withstand real-world use, not just to look good in a catalog.

Installation and specifications

Installing this wall-mounted light requires access to an outdoor power outlet or wall-embedded wiring. It is fixed directly onto the vertical surface, so it is advisable to verify that the support is sturdy before proceeding. No post or ground structure is required. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional, especially outdoors where moisture can affect the connections.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products that may scratch the surface. It is not necessary to disassemble the lamp for routine cleaning. Periodically check that the wall fixings remain in good condition, especially after periods of heavy rain or frost.

Design and use

The SCREEN lamp by FARO is built with aluminum and polycarbonate, a common combination in outdoor luminaires for its balance between lightness and durability. The aluminum provides structure and dissipates the heat generated by the LED, while the transparent polycarbonate protects the internal components without blocking light output. The result is a compact lantern with straight lines and a clean profile that does not distract on facades or garden walls.

The 360-degree option allows light to be distributed symmetrically around the mounting point. This is useful when the lantern is placed on a column, pillar, or any surface where illumination in multiple directions at once is desired. On a terrace, for example, a single well-placed light point can cover a wide area without leaving shadowed zones.

The color temperature of 2700K corresponds to warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. This type of light is pleasant in garden or patio settings at night, as it is neither cold nor harsh. It does not interfere too much with the natural surroundings and creates a calm atmosphere without the need to adjust the intensity.

The included COB LED has a maximum power of 14W, sufficient to illuminate entrances, pathways, or outdoor living areas. There is no need to purchase a separate lamp or worry about light source compatibility with the fitting. The operating voltage ranges from 100V to 240V, meaning it works without adapters on any standard domestic electrical network.

The IP65 protection ensures that the unit resists both dust and water projected from any direction. This specification comfortably covers normal rainfall, garden irrigation systems, or ambient humidity in coastal areas. The IK10 rating indicates the maximum resistance to mechanical impacts according to the standardized scale, adding safety in frequently used spaces or where physical activity may occur near the light point.

This lantern fits well in private garden lighting projects, residential entrances, pathways, or communal areas in housing developments. It also works in more technical installations, such as park lighting or recreational areas, where a durable, low-maintenance luminaire is needed. The dark grey finish is neutral and pairs with common outdoor construction materials: exposed concrete, natural stone, dark ceramic, or treated wood.

Wall mounting sets it apart from other options such as ground bollards or post-mounted lamps. It takes up no space on the ground and does not interfere with foot traffic, making it a practical choice when the floor is already finished or when tripping hazards in transit areas need to be avoided.

Questions and answers

What does IP65 protection mean for this lantern and what situations does it cover?

IP65 indicates that the unit is sealed against dust and protected against water projected from any angle. It covers outdoor use in direct rain, high humidity, or areas close to irrigation systems, with no need for additional protection.

Is the COB LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the 14W COB LED light source. It does not need to be purchased separately, nor is it necessary to verify compatibility before installation.

Is it possible to install this wall-mounted light on a pillar or column to achieve illumination in all directions?

Yes. The 360-degree option in the SCREEN collection is designed precisely for that type of mounting. When fixed to a column or pillar, it distributes light symmetrically around the installation point.
