Installation and specifications

Before installing the lantern, check that the wall surface is solid and capable of supporting the fixing. Wiring must be carried out with the power cut off. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially outdoors where moisture can affect connections. Make sure the fixings are properly secured to avoid vibrations or displacement.

To clean the lamp, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the PC diffuser or the dark grey finish of the body. Do not disassemble the light source compartment without first disconnecting the power supply.

Design and use

The SCREEN lamp by FARO is conceived as a technical luminaire for outdoor use. Its structure combines aluminium and polycarbonate in a rectangular, compact form, with dimensions of 250 mm in height and 160 mm on each side. The dark grey finish of the body integrates effortlessly with concrete, stone or contemporary material facades. It does not draw attention to itself, but fulfils its function with solidity.

The transparent PC diffuser allows light to emerge clearly. The 14 W COB LED light source at 2700K offers a warm tone, close to traditional incandescent light, which is pleasant in a garden or at the entrance of a house. It is not a cold or clinical technical light: it creates a calm atmosphere at dusk without losing luminous efficacy.

The lantern is prepared to withstand real outdoor conditions. The IK10 rating indicates the maximum resistance to mechanical impacts within the standard scale, which is relevant in passageways, terraces with heavy footfall or semi-public spaces. The IP65 degree guarantees that neither pressurised water nor dust can affect the internal functioning. This makes it a stable option for permanent outdoor installations.

The 360º version is especially useful when you want to illuminate the ground and surroundings uniformly from a fixed point. In practice, this means there is no need to think about the orientation of the lantern: the light is distributed in all directions. In a garden with pathways or a patio with multiple access points, this simplifies both the design and the final result.

Although it is a wall-mounted fixture, the luminaire fits well as a complement to a broader lighting system. It can be combined with ground-level bollards, post lamps or adjustable spotlights to cover different lighting planes outdoors. On covered terraces or in transition zones between indoor and outdoor areas, the SCREEN works as a discreet light point that does not visually dominate the space.

The body design, without unnecessary edges or decorative details, distances it from both the classic wrought iron lantern and the more striking modern style. It is a luminaire that adapts without conflict to different contexts, from a renovated facade to a well-kept garden.

There are specific situations where this lamp fits particularly well. On a terrace with stone or wood flooring, installed at mid-height on the wall, it marks the perimeter of the space without the need for a central post or complex electrical runs. The result is perimeter lighting that defines the area without saturating it with lights. The 2700K temperature suits that kind of atmosphere well: warm, without turning excessively yellow.

At plot entrances or garden paths, the SCREEN can work in combination with flush ground-level bollards. The low lights mark the route, while the wall lamp covers the vertical plane and gives context to the space. This distribution of planes avoids the feeling of a poorly lit exterior, where everything depends on a single overly powerful spotlight. A well-positioned lantern at mid-height complements that scheme without interfering.

For an interior courtyard or a covered passageway, the IP65 rating provides peace of mind even if the space is not completely exposed to rain. The lamp works equally well in a fully uncovered outdoor area as in a semi-covered zone where moisture can accumulate. It requires no special attention depending on the season or additional protection during periods of heavy rain.

The CASAMBI version allows the SCREEN to be integrated into a wireless lighting control system. From an app, it is possible to manage switching, intensity and schedules without the need for a physical sensor or additional control wiring. This is useful in installations where you want to programme the behaviour of outdoor lights flexibly, such as in a home with a garden or in a space with irregular use. The absence of a mechanical sensor simplifies installation and reduces potential points of failure.

The dark grey finish is not neutral by chance. This tone works well on both light facades and medium-toned walls, without creating harsh contrasts. Unlike a lantern in deep black or white, dark grey visually absorbs the lamp into the architectural whole. During the day, the presence of the SCREEN on the wall is discreet. At dusk, the function takes centre stage without the body of the luminaire drawing attention.

If the project includes a garden post with a lateral electrical outlet, the SCREEN can also be mounted directly onto it, using the wall-mount fixing on the flat surface of the post. This installation versatility means that a single product reference can solve different points within the same outdoor project, from the main facade to the garden boundaries or the rear patio access points.

Questions and answers

What does it mean that this lantern has an IK10 rating?

IK10 is the highest level on the mechanical impact resistance scale. It means that the body of the lantern is manufactured to withstand strong blows without the material breaking or deforming. This is relevant in outdoor areas with heavy footfall or in zones where use is intensive.

Does the 360º version illuminate upwards as well, or only towards the ground?

The 360º option distributes light symmetrically in all horizontal directions from the installation point. This means that the surroundings around the post or wall are illuminated uniformly, without pronounced shadow zones on the sides.

Can the polycarbonate diffuser be replaced if it becomes damaged over time?
