Overview

This outdoor lamp from the brand FARO is designed for those who want to illuminate the garden, terrace, or patio with a clean and modern result. It mounts directly to the wall and projects a beam of light that creates a carefully considered visual effect on the surface. It is not a high-power lamp designed to illuminate a large area, but a decorative lantern that works with the atmosphere of the space.

The body is made of aluminum in a dark grey finish, with an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The result is warm light at 3000K, soft and glare-free. The integrated SMD LED source consumes only 8W. FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting, known for combining contemporary design with materials built to last under real-world conditions.

Installation and specifications

For installation, this lamp mounts directly onto the wall. Since it is an outdoor lantern, it is recommended that the wiring be protected and that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before fixing the bracket, it is advisable to verify that the wall surface is solid and free of accumulated moisture. The universal voltage of 100V–240V allows it to be used without adapters in any standard domestic installation.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminum body with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The polycarbonate diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time; it can be cleaned with water and mild soap. The LED module should not be disassembled, as the light source is factory-integrated.

Design and use

This wall lamp has a compact profile and an unadorned line, making it compatible with modern facades, stone walls, or rendered surfaces. The dark grey aluminum body does not stand out excessively during the day, and at night the beam of light it projects is what defines its presence. It is not a lantern designed to illuminate like a tall post, but to create a specific point of light with its own visual effect.

The use of aluminum in the structure ensures that the body withstands the usual outdoor conditions without warping or rusting. It is a material that performs well in both humid climates and areas with a lot of sun, without the finish deteriorating prematurely. The opal polycarbonate diffuser distributes light evenly, without hot spots or harsh contrasts.

The color temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to that of a candle or a traditional bulb. This tone works well outdoors where a calm atmosphere is sought at night, such as the garden of a single-family home or the entrance to a building. It does not generate the bluish coldness that can sometimes feel unwelcoming in domestic spaces.

The lantern can be installed at various points on the facade: next to an access door, along a path on the side wall, or flanking a window. When several units are placed at the same height, the overall effect is orderly and consistent. It also works well as a single element that marks a corner of the patio or signals the entrance to the garden.

Unlike a floor post, this wall-mounted format uses the wall as a support and keeps the floor clear. In small terraces or passageways, this can be a practical advantage. The beam it projects falls on the wall surface or the floor depending on how it is oriented, creating a shadow and an illuminated zone that add visual depth to the space.

The weight of 1.25 kg is manageable for a standard wall installation, without the need for special anchors beyond those typically used for this type of luminaire. The dimensions, with 205mm in height and 120mm in depth, give it presence without being bulky. It fits well in spaces where other solutions, such as ground bollards or a larger post, would not be suitable.

Questions and answers

Is the SMD LED source integrated into the lamp or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 8W SMD LED light source is included from the factory. There is no need to purchase or install any additional bulb.

Can the polycarbonate diffuser on this lantern yellow over time due to sun exposure?

The polycarbonate used in this type of diffuser is treated for outdoor use. With basic maintenance and periodic cleaning, the diffuser retains its appearance without significant color changes for years.

Is this lamp compatible with external motion sensor systems?

The lamp itself does not include a motion sensor and is not designed with that function. However, since it operates on standard voltage of 100V–240V, it can be integrated into a circuit that has an external motion sensor previously installed in the home's electrical system.
