Overview

The SAIGON OUT S C70 lamp by FARO is an outdoor pendant designed for open-air spaces where stable, long-lasting lighting is needed. It works well on a terrace, a private garden, an entrance porch, or a covered interior courtyard. Its fixed ceiling mounting system, without tension cables, makes it more stable in adverse weather conditions: wind, humidity, or temperature variations will not destabilize it.

The body is made of aluminum with a dark grey finish, and the diffuser is made of PEMD in an opal tone. The combination produces soft, evenly distributed light, without harsh glare or glare points. Visually, it fits in environments where something between modern and functional is desired, without drawing too much attention to itself.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Their products are aimed at those looking for quality materials and design built to last.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this pendant lamp, check that the ceiling anchor point has sufficient capacity to support the weight of the assembly. Since it is a direct fixing without tension cables, the ceiling must be in good condition and the support must be properly secured from the outset. It is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician or person experienced in electrical work, especially in outdoor installations where the watertightness of connections is important. Verify that the installation is compatible with the indicated voltage range (100V–240V) before connecting.

To clean the aluminum body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The PEMD diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Do not use pressurized water directly on the lamp. Periodically check the condition of the connections and ceiling support to ensure everything remains properly secured.

Design and use

The SAIGON OUT S C70 is an outdoor pendant lamp with a clean, well-proportioned design. Its diameter of 665 mm gives it enough presence to illuminate a wide area, such as a garden table or the center of a covered terrace. It is not a small lamp, and that shows in how it distributes light: the opal diffuser spreads the beam evenly downward and to the sides, without creating shadowed areas.

The aluminum body in dark grey is durable and requires little maintenance. Aluminum is a common material in outdoor luminaires because it does not corrode easily and withstands temperature changes well. The dark grey finish gives it a sober look that adapts to both modern architecture and more rustic settings without looking out of place.

The PEMD diffuser in an opal tone softens the light from the bulb and prevents the light source from being seen directly. This is especially useful in spaces where the lamp is at eye level, such as a low porch or a covered gallery. The light produced is pleasant, without the dazzling effect found in some outdoor pendants with transparent diffusers.

The direct ceiling mounting system, without tension cables or additional structures, keeps the lamp steady even on windy days. This sets it apart from other outdoor pendants that rely on lateral tension cables to remain stable. In a patio or garden with a roof, or in a pergola with a solid ceiling, this type of anchor is the safest long-term option.

It fits well in different contexts: a house terrace with wooden flooring and dark garden furniture, an interior courtyard with white walls, an entrance porch with stone flooring, or even a covered barbecue area. Its dark grey tone pairs with natural materials such as wood, stone, or cement, as well as with more modern finishes like black metal or exposed concrete. If the space has a rustic aesthetic, the lamp does not look out of place; if it is more contemporary, it works just as well.

Being compatible with an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W, energy consumption is low and the bulb has a long lifespan. Please note that the bulb is not included, so it will need to be purchased separately. A warm white E27 LED (2700–3000 K) usually works well in nighttime outdoor settings because it creates a welcoming atmosphere without being too intense.

Weighing 1.67 kg, the lamp is not particularly heavy, but since it is a pendant fixed to the ceiling outdoors, it is important that the anchor point is properly prepared. The total height of 535 mm allows it to be installed in standard-height ceilings without hanging too low.

Questions and answers

Why does this pendant lamp not require tension cables for outdoor installation?

The design of the SAIGON OUT S C70 includes a direct ceiling mounting system that distributes the weight in a stable manner without the need for lateral tension cables. This makes it more robust against wind and reduces mechanical failure points under continuous outdoor use conditions.

Does the PEMD diffuser in an opal finish affect the intensity of the emitted light?

The opal diffuser softens and disperses the light, which slightly reduces the perceived intensity compared to a transparent diffuser. In return, it eliminates the direct glare effect and produces more uniform, pleasant lighting in the outdoor space.

Is this luminaire compatible with any E27 bulb on the market?

It accepts E27 base bulbs with a maximum power of 15 W. It is compatible with the voltage range 100V–240V, making it suitable for use in any standard domestic installation. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.
