Overview

The SAIGON OUT S C70 lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for outdoor use. It is installed directly on the ceiling via fixed anchoring, without the need for tension cables, making it especially stable in adverse weather conditions. It is an option designed for terraces, gardens and porches where functional and long-lasting lighting is sought.

The aluminum body with a dark grey finish gives it a solid and understated appearance. The PEMD opal diffuser distributes light evenly, without overly bright spots or harsh shadows. It is a lamp that works well both in modern settings and in more rustic environments, depending on how the outdoor space is arranged.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products are designed for residential installations and can be found in homes that seek quality without complications.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp on an outdoor ceiling, a suitable outdoor junction box is required. The fixture is mounted directly to the ceiling without tension cables, so the anchor point must be on a firm and level surface. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in spaces exposed to rain or humidity. Before connecting, make sure the power supply is switched off. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100V and 240V, making it easy to use in different countries without additional adapters.

For maintenance of the luminaire, clean the body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminum finish. The PEMD diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Do not directly expose the lamp to jets of water during cleaning. Periodically check the connections and the condition of the anchoring, especially after periods of strong wind or heavy rain.

Design and use

The SAIGON OUT S C70 is an outdoor pendant lamp that balances durability and aesthetics without either being compromised. The dark grey aluminum body not only provides resilience against external elements, but also gives a neutral and clean look that adapts to different types of outdoor spaces. It is not a striking lamp, but it does not go unnoticed either: it has a defined presence that visually organizes the environment where it is placed.

The PEMD opal diffuser performs well outdoors, where artificial light tends to appear more contrasted than indoors. It distributes illumination evenly around the installation point, which is useful on terraces where a well-lit area is desired without directly pointing spotlights. In a patio with a table or seating area, this pendant lamp creates an atmosphere that makes it pleasant to be outdoors when natural light is no longer available.

The fixed anchoring system without tension cables is one of the most practical aspects of this luminaire. In an outdoor installation, tension cables can become a problem over time: they move in the wind, require adjustments and in adverse conditions can give way. By eliminating them, the lamp is fixed to the ceiling more robustly, which is especially important on an exposed porch or a pergola where wind is frequent. It also simplifies the visual appearance of the installation, as there are no cables or tensioned wires in sight.

With a total diameter of 665 mm and a height of 535 mm, this lamp has a size that makes it suitable for medium-sized outdoor spaces. In a garden with a covered area, it can be the central lighting feature. In a large balcony or a covered gallery it also fits well, provided the ceiling has sufficient height for the lamp to hang without being too low. Its weight of 1.67 kg is manageable for most outdoor ceilings prepared for this type of installation.

The dark grey finish of the body allows it to be combined with metal structures, treated wood or stone paving without clashing. Both in a modern setting with straight lines and in a more rustic one with natural materials, this pendant integrates without requiring adjustments to the rest of the décor. The light emitted through the opal diffuser has a quality that does not strain the eyes during long evenings outdoors.

Compatibility with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15W makes it an efficient lamp for regular use. Although the bulb is not included, it is a type of light source that is easily available in any lighting or DIY store.
