Overview

The SAIGON pendant lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed for those looking for something simple and well-executed. It works well on terraces, porches, patios, and gardens where straightforward overhead lighting is needed without complications. The rope shade lets light through softly, creating a visual effect that transforms any outdoor space after dark.

The design follows the line of the Nahtrang collection: pure forms, no ornamentation, no unnecessary elements. The cone-shaped shade in beige contrasts well with the dark grey body. It is a piece that does not try to draw attention, yet does not go unnoticed either. The rope that forms the shade adds a warm texture that balances the usual coldness of modern outdoor lamps.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in lighting. Their products combine design and functionality, conceived for both indoor environments and outdoor use, where conditions are more demanding.

Installation and specifications

The lamp is fixed directly to the ceiling using the included suspension system. Before installing it, check that the anchor point on the ceiling is suitable for supporting the weight of the luminaire. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified technician, especially outdoors where cable safety is essential. Make sure that the voltage of your installation is compatible with the indicated range before connecting it.

To clean the aluminium body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The rope shade may accumulate dust over time; remove it with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Do not use pressurised water or wet the shade directly. Periodically check the anchor points and the condition of the suspension cable.

Design and use

The SAIGON collection was born with a clear idea: to create an outdoor pendant lamp that does not rely on complexity to stand out. The result is a piece that conveys calm and order, suitable for both a garden with dense vegetation and a minimalist terrace with few pieces of furniture.

The body is made of aluminium, a material resistant to outdoor conditions. The dark grey finish gives it a discreet presence, without the lamp visually competing with its surroundings. This tone works equally well against an old brick wall as against a modern wooden or metal enclosure. The transition between the body and the shade is clean, with no visible joints or connecting elements that break the silhouette.

The cone-shaped shade is made with rope, which makes it something different in the world of outdoor lamps. The rope creates a semi-open weave that filters light rather than blocking it. When the lamp is on, the light passes through that weave and projects a pattern of shadows and light onto the floor and nearby surfaces. The effect is subtle, not dramatic, and gives a sense of warmth that opaque shades cannot offer.

The beige colour of the shade reinforces that warm atmosphere. In outdoor settings with soft lighting, the contrast between the grey of the body and the beige of the shade is clearly perceptible, but without harshness. It is a combination that adapts well to both modern styles and more rustic environments, where the natural texture of the rope fits in effortlessly.

This pendant lamp works especially well in covered porches, pergolas, or outdoor galleries where it is protected from direct rain. It can also be used in interior courtyards or semi-covered areas. In gardens, it is common to place it above an outdoor table to define the gathering space and create an area with its own light within a larger garden.

The E27 socket is compatible with most LED bulbs on the market. The maximum admitted power is 15 W, sufficient to illuminate a gathering area on a terrace or a corner of the patio with good visibility. As no bulb is included, you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the atmosphere you are looking for: a warmer light for a cosy effect or a neutral light if you need greater clarity.

Combined with other pieces from the SAIGON collection or with lighting elements in the same colour range, it creates a coherent ensemble. A porch with two or three pendant lamps from this collection at different heights can completely transform the perception of the space at night. In a garden, it can work as a focal point above the seating area, leaving the rest in a natural dimness that adds depth to the surroundings.

Questions and answers

Is the rope shade of the SAIGON lamp designed to withstand outdoor conditions, such as humidity or wind?

The lamp is rated for outdoor use. The rope shade is part of the original design of the collection and is conceived to be installed in outdoor spaces. To extend its lifespan, it is recommended to install it in semi-covered areas or places protected from direct rain and strong wind.

Is the E27 socket compatible with any standard LED bulb on the market?

Yes, the E27 socket is one of the most common. It is compatible with most standard screw-base LED bulbs available in any lighting store. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs in terms of power and colour temperature, respecting the maximum limit of 15 W.

The lamp body measures 680 mm in height. How does this affect the recommended installation height?

The lamp has a total height of 680 mm. For installations in porches or terraces with a standard ceiling, it is advisable to calculate the distance between the anchor point and the floor to ensure that the lamp is at a comfortable and functional height. In passageways, it is recommended to leave at least 200 cm free from the base of the lamp to the floor.
