The SPY 435 stake luminaire by FARO is designed for outdoor lighting: gardens, patios, terraces and access paths. Installation and specifications

No special tools are required to install this luminaire. The stake is inserted directly into the ground — in soil, grass or soft substrate. Before placing it, check that the area is free of cables or other underground elements. The electrical connection must be made by a qualified electrician, as the product does not include a light source and requires connection to a 220V-240V mains supply. Make sure to use a COB LED bulb compatible with the maximum rated wattage.

To clean the aluminium body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The opal glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Periodically check that the stake remains firmly in the ground, especially after heavy rain or strong wind. Do not handle the luminaire while the installation is connected to the mains supply.

Design and use

The SPY 435 has a height of 685 mm, which places it at a sufficient distance from the ground to project light effectively without being hidden among vegetation. It is not a ground-level bollard: its height allows the beam to reach objects located at a certain distance, such as the base of a tree, a large plant pot or an architectural element in the garden.

The body is made of aluminium combined with polycarbonate. The aluminium provides rigidity and corrosion resistance, while the polycarbonate helps reduce the overall weight. The dark grey finish integrates well into natural surroundings — soil, gravel, grass — without drawing too much attention during the day. It is a discreet fixture that fulfils its function primarily at night.

The opal glass diffuser softens the light output. It does not produce glare or bright spots. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm light that is pleasant in outdoor night-time settings, without the coldness of higher colour temperatures. It is the type of lighting that does not distort the colours of the surroundings and makes the garden or terrace look natural even after dark.

The adjustable orientation of the projector is especially useful when the garden design is not symmetrical or when the elements you want to illuminate are not aligned with the position of the stake. You can place the luminaire in the ground and aim the beam diagonally, upward or laterally. As an adjustable projector, it can be used alongside other outdoor lights — wall lanterns, in-ground spotlights or string lights — without creating visual conflict. The warm 3000K tone harmonises with most residential lighting solutions.

The stake is designed to be fixed directly in the ground, without the need for a base or additional anchoring. In hard ground or compacted gravel it may require some effort to insert, but in soil or grass it is placed with ease. The weight of just over one kilogram keeps it stable without the wind moving it.

What is the protection rating of the SPY 435 against rain and dust?

The luminaire has an IP65 rating, which means it is fully protected against dust and against water jets from any direction. It can remain installed outdoors throughout the year without needing to be removed due to normal weather conditions.

Is the LED light source included with the product?

No, the light source is not included. You need to purchase a COB LED bulb separately, compatible with a maximum wattage of 6W and a voltage of 220V-240V. A colour temperature of 3000K is recommended to maintain the warm tone for which the luminaire is designed.

Can the projector head be oriented after installation?

Yes, the head is adjustable. You can adjust the direction of the beam once the stake is fixed in the ground, allowing you to aim the light at trees, plants or other decorative elements in the garden or patio without moving the entire luminaire.
