Overview

The SAIGON stake by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed for gardens, patios and terraces where a calm atmosphere is sought without sacrificing functionality. It is driven directly into the ground, making it a simple solution for marking paths, bordering flower beds or defining walkways without the need for construction work.

Its height of 1370 mm makes it visible from a distance without being intrusive. The shade is woven with rope, which allows light to pass through the material in a diffuse way, projecting a soft effect onto the surroundings. There are no direct glares or harsh contrasts, only lighting that blends naturally into the outdoor space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its outdoor collections combine durability with attention to detail, and the SAIGON line reflects that philosophy: clean shapes, materials designed to last and a carefully considered aesthetic result.

Installation and specifications

To install this bollard correctly, it is advisable to prepare the ground before driving in the stake. If the soil is soft or earthy, the fixing is direct. On more compact surfaces, a small pre-drilling may be necessary. The wiring must be buried or well protected to prevent deterioration from moisture or foot traffic. Before connecting, make sure the outdoor electrical installation is prepared for the indicated voltage and has adequate differential protection.

To keep the luminaire in good condition, clean the aluminium body with a damp cloth and a mild soap. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The rope shade requires delicate care: remove dust with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Do not wet it directly with a hose. Periodically check the connections and the condition of the outdoor cable to prevent problems.

Design and use

The SAIGON collection stems from a specific premise: outdoor lighting with its own character without resorting to excessive ornamentation. The focus is on shape, proportion and how the light reaches the exterior. The result is a piece that works well alone or in groups, and that does not need other elements to have presence.

The body is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish. It is a material that withstands outdoor conditions well and maintains its appearance over time without requiring constant maintenance. The grey tone integrates easily into modern settings and also into gardens with abundant vegetation, where the contrast with green feels natural.

The rope shade is the most distinctive element of this luminaire. The weave acts as a filter: it lets light through but distributes it softly, without exposing it directly. This creates an interesting visual effect both during the day, when the texture of the rope is visible, and at night, when the light emerges through the weave creating subtle patterns on the ground and nearby vegetation.

As a ground stake, this bollard is particularly useful for marking routes in the garden or patio. Placed along a path, it generates a warm line of light that guides without dazzling. It also works well on terraces with planting areas, where it acts as a light point without visually competing with other decorative elements. In a patio used at night, a few well-distributed units are sufficient to create a balanced atmosphere.

The use of an E27 LED light source allows you to choose the colour temperature according to the desired result. A warm-toned bulb enhances the ambient effect. A neutral-toned one provides more visibility. The opal shade softens any variation, so the result always remains integrated.

The bollards in this collection can also be combined with wall spotlights or ground projectors from the same SAIGON line to build coherent outdoor lighting. The common design among the pieces in the collection makes this combination easy without the need for detailed planning.

The height of the stake, which exceeds one metre, distinguishes it from lower, ground-hugging bollards. This gives it visual presence even in gardens with medium-height vegetation. It is not a large-format lantern, but it does not disappear among the plants either. It occupies its place with discretion, and that is precisely what makes it versatile.

Questions and answers

Does the rope shade of the SAIGON stake withstand rain and outdoor moisture?

The shade is made of PEMD, a material designed for outdoor use. It withstands exposure to ambient moisture and normal rainfall. However, it is advisable to avoid direct contact with pressurised water jets during cleaning, as this could affect the weave over time.

Is the E27 LED bulb included with the luminaire?

No, the bulb is not included. You will need to purchase separately an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. You can choose your preferred colour temperature; the opal diffuser will soften the result in any case.

Is it possible to install several SAIGON stakes in series on the same outdoor circuit?

Yes, given the low consumption of each unit with a 15 W LED bulb, it is possible to connect several on the same circuit. It is advisable to calculate the total load before installation and ensure that the outdoor circuit has adequate protection.
