Overview

PICCOLA is an outdoor stake lamp designed by Faro Team to illuminate gardens, patios, and terraces in a subtle and precise way. It is driven directly into the ground and projects light upward, highlighting plants, trees, sculptures, or any garden element that deserves attention. It takes up no space, requires no additional structure, and fits well in outdoor spaces where a neat and elegant result is sought.

The lamp comes with an SMD LED light source included, meaning it is ready to install from the very first moment. Its matte white finish and opal diffuser ensure that the light it emits is soft and uniform, without annoying glare or harsh shadows. It is an option designed for those who want to shape the garden at night without resorting to bulky solutions.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Its products combine careful design with durable materials, intended for both indoor and outdoor use. PICCOLA reflects that approach well: functional, discreet, and well built.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This luminaire is fixed directly into the ground via a stake, with no need for anchors or screws on hard surfaces. Before installing it, check that the ground is free of large stones or roots that could hinder insertion. The wiring must be buried or protected up to the connection point. If you do not have experience with outdoor electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician.

Use and maintenance. Clean the white aluminium surface with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned with water and mild soap. Avoid direct impacts on the body or the diffuser. Do not handle the luminaire with the power connected.

Design and use

PICCOLA is a compact outdoor beacon that works from the ground upward. With a height of 605 mm and a base of 120 x 120 mm, it has enough presence to be noticed without dominating the space. The body is made of matte white aluminium, a material that holds up well under outdoor conditions and adds no visual weight to the surroundings. Alongside it, the PMMA diffuser with an opal finish distributes light without creating concentrated bright spots. The result is a soft glow that wraps the surrounding area in a warm 2700K tone.

In the garden, this type of luminaire works very well when placed next to medium or tall plants. The light travels up the trunk or stems and shapes the plant with natural shadows, giving volume to the whole. It can also be placed near decorative objects, such as small fountains, large pots, or sculptures, to highlight them within the outdoor space. On a terrace or patio with vegetation, several beacons distributed at different visual heights create a balanced atmosphere without the need for powerful spotlights.

The lantern is not intended for intense functional lighting, but rather for defining zones and guiding the eye. Two or three units along a path, for example, mark the route without saturating the surroundings with light. In an inner courtyard, where the scale is smaller, a single piece may be enough to transform the night-time atmosphere.

The matte white aluminium finish fits well with outdoor spaces that have a clean, contemporary aesthetic: gardens with orderly vegetation, patios with natural stone flooring, or terraces with furniture in neutral tones. It also works well alongside more rustic elements, as the simple form of the beacon does not impose a specific style. It does not compete with the surroundings: it complements them.

The included SMD LED source consumes 6 W and operates across a wide voltage range, from 100V to 240V, making it compatible with standard installations. The 2700K temperature corresponds to a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb, which is especially pleasant in outdoor night-time settings because it does not alter the natural colours of plants and materials.

The light projector that makes up this piece is discreet by day and effective by night. The stake form allows it to be repositioned if you change the layout of the garden, something that is not possible with luminaires fixed into construction. This gives the outdoor design a degree of flexibility over time.

Questions and answers

Can the stake be installed in hard or paved ground, or does it only work in soil?

PICCOLA is designed to be driven into soil or grass. It is not suitable for hard surfaces such as concrete, cobblestones, or decking without prior adaptation of the electrical installation and anchoring.

Is the 2700K colour temperature suitable for illuminating plants without affecting them?

The warm 2700K light has minimal impact on plants compared to higher temperatures. For decorative night-time use over a few hours, it poses no problem for typical garden vegetation.

Does the matte white aluminium body require any treatment to maintain its finish outdoors in rain or humidity?

Aluminium is a material that tolerates exposure to moisture well. No additional treatments are needed, although periodic cleaning with a damp cloth helps keep the white finish in good condition for longer.
