Overview

PILL is a wall light designed for outdoor lighting. Its compact semicircular shape makes it easy to integrate into facades, walls, and any vertical surface where a discreet yet functional lamp is needed. It is intended for gardens, terraces, and balconies, and adapts to both residential installations and semi-public spaces such as entrances or porches.

One of the most useful features of this wall light is that it can be oriented upward or downward depending on how the light is to be distributed. This allows the visual effect to be adjusted without needing to change the position of the installation point. The lamp includes an integrated COB LED light source, so there is no need to purchase a bulb separately.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine functional design with quality materials, aimed at both domestic use and larger-scale projects.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a recessed wall box or a flat surface on which to fix the wall light is required. Since this is an outdoor luminaire, it is advisable to verify that the wiring is properly protected against moisture before proceeding with assembly. It is recommended that electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional. The lamp accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with installations in different countries.

To clean the wall light, simply wipe the aluminum surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used. Since the lamp is installed outdoors, it is advisable to periodically check the condition of the sealing and fixing points, especially after periods of heavy rain or wind.

Design and use

The PILL wall light by FARO has a very compact profile: 85 mm high, 100 mm long, and just 30 mm deep. It does not protrude from the wall more than necessary, and this is noticeable when installed in spaces where clearance is tight or where the lamp is meant to go unnoticed during the day.

The body is made of aluminum with a matte white finish. It is a material that withstands outdoor conditions well and does not add unnecessary weight to the installation. The diffuser is made of opal glass, which distributes light evenly without creating concentrated bright spots. The color temperature is 3000K, which corresponds to warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. This type of light is pleasant for garden or terrace settings in the afternoon and evening, as it is neither cold nor clinical.

The light source is a 3.5 W COB LED, already included in the wall light. There is no need to look for a compatible bulb or worry about the type of fitting. Energy consumption is low and heat emission is minimal, which is especially useful in outdoor luminaires where access for maintenance may be less convenient.

One of the most practical design decisions of this fixture is the ability to install it with the light oriented upward or downward. If oriented downward, it illuminates the ground or a walkway directly. If oriented upward, it creates a grazing light effect on the wall, which can be interesting on stone facades, exposed brick, or textured cladding. This flexibility allows the same wall light to be adapted to different needs without changing the product.

On a terrace, for example, this wall light can be installed at mid-height next to a door or window to visually define the space without flooding it with light. In a garden, several wall lights distributed along a wall or fence create continuous, ordered illumination. On a balcony, its small size means it takes up neither visual nor physical space, something that is appreciated in small areas.

The matte white finish integrates well into light-colored facades and contemporary outdoor aesthetics. It also works as a contrast on dark-colored surfaces or natural materials such as wood or stone. Its clean geometric profile does not visually compete with other decorative elements in the space.

Although it does not include a motion sensor or presence detector, the lamp can be connected to external control systems if the electrical installation allows it. This is outside the product itself, but it is a possibility that some users may value when planning their installation. Without natural light, at nighttime, this wall light becomes the main visual reference point of the outdoor space.

Questions and answers

Is it possible to install the PILL wall light with the light oriented upward instead of downward?

Yes. The PILL wall light can be installed in both positions: with the light directed downward or upward. This allows you to choose between direct illumination of the ground or a light effect on the wall, depending on the needs of the space.

Does the wall light include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED light source is included in the wall light. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb or look for a compatible fitting type.

Does the aluminum body require any special treatment to withstand outdoor conditions?

The aluminum with a matte white finish does not require any additional treatments for outdoor use. Periodic cleaning with a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient to keep the finish in good condition.
