Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This wall light is fixed directly to the wall using the anchors appropriate for the surface. Before installing the lamp, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. The wiring must remain protected and free from mechanical tension. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician. Check that the wall surface is firm and capable of supporting the weight of the wall light.

Use and maintenance. To clean the surface of the wall light, use a soft cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte white finish or the polycarbonate diffuser. Do not direct jets of water directly onto the lamp. Periodically check the condition of the wall anchoring, especially outdoors where temperature variations can affect the materials.

Design and use

LOTUS is an outdoor lighting collection developed by Estudi Ribaudí for FARO. The design takes its starting point from the shape of lotus leaves and translates it into an aluminium piece with soft, symmetrical lines. The result is a wall light that does not seek to dominate the space, but rather to integrate naturally into the wall on which it is placed.

The body of the wall light is made of aluminium, a material that tolerates prolonged outdoor exposure well. The finish is matte white, giving it a neutral appearance that does not accumulate dirt or dust visually in the same way as other shinier finishes. This tone works with light-coloured façades, whitewashed walls or light stone surfaces, though it also contrasts discreetly against darker surfaces.

The diffuser is made of polycarbonate with an opaline finish. This material filters the light source and prevents direct glare. The lamp emits warm light at 3000K, a colour temperature perceived as welcoming and well suited to areas where functional lighting without coldness is desired. It is not an intense working light, but rather a light that guides and accompanies.

Wall installation is the main configuration for this wall light. Outdoors, it adapts well to the entrance of a home, the side of a terrace or garden pathways. Positioned at the right height, it illuminates the ground in front of the wall without creating harsh shadow areas. In gardens with nearby vegetation, the warm light enhances green tones and the natural materials of the surroundings without artificiality.

An interesting feature of LOTUS is that it can also be installed indoors, with the opening facing upward or downward. Facing upward, it projects light toward the ceiling and creates an indirect lighting effect that visually expands the space. Facing downward, it concentrates the focus toward the floor or the lower section of the wall, useful in corridors, staircases or transitional spaces. This flexibility allows the same wall light to be used in different contexts without needing to adapt the luminaire.

The total weight is just over one kilogram, which makes installation straightforward on most standard surfaces. The compact dimensions — 225 mm in length and 90 mm in height — mean it does not take up too much space on the wall or look disproportionate in medium-sized spaces.

As for the light source, it includes an integrated 18 W SMD LED module. No bulb replacement is required, nor is there any need to look for compatibility with other sources. The contained energy consumption is suitable for continuous use, such as that of an outdoor wall light that remains on for several hours each night.

LOTUS pairs well with other luminaires from the same collection if you want to create a coherent lighting scheme along a façade or an outdoor path. It also integrates without conflict alongside materials such as wood, exposed concrete or ceramic cladding.

Can this wall light be installed both with the opening facing upward and downward?

Yes. The LOTUS wall light is designed to be mounted in both positions. Facing upward, it directs the beam of light toward the ceiling or sky, while facing downward it projects it toward the floor or the lower part of the wall. This allows the direction of the lighting to be adapted to the needs of the space.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 18 W SMD LED light source is included with the lamp. There is no need to purchase any additional module or look for compatibility with other bulbs.

Does the aluminium body hold up well to sun exposure and rain outdoors?

Aluminium is a common material in outdoor luminaires precisely because it withstands weather conditions well. It tolerates cycles of sun and rain without rusting in the same way as other metals. To keep the finish in good condition, periodic cleaning with a soft cloth is recommended.
