Overview

An outdoor wall light designed for those who want practical, long-lasting lighting in their garden, terrace, façade, or entrance. This wall lamp from the FARO brand combines a die-cast aluminium body with a transparent polycarbonate diffuser, making it resistant to daily use in outdoor conditions.

The wall light emits a warm 3000K light that is not harsh on the eyes. It is the type of light that creates a sense of calm and makes outdoor corners feel welcoming when night falls. The LED driver is included, so there is no need to source additional components for installation.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products are designed with durability in mind and to ensure the final result looks good without complicating the installation process.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, check that the wall surface is clean, dry, and free of cracks. The electrical connection point must be in the correct position according to the dimensions of the unit. Verify that the installation voltage is compatible with the indicated 220V-240V. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to seek the help of an electrician.

To keep the wall light in good condition, simply clean the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminium finish or the polycarbonate. Do not handle the lamp while the power is connected.

Design and use

This wall light has a compact design that does not take up too much visual space, yet performs its function well. With only 202 mm in length and 42 mm in depth, it integrates seamlessly into façades, garden walls, garage entrances, or terrace walls without appearing bulky or overly eye-catching.

The die-cast aluminium body in dark grey adds solidity to the unit. Aluminium is a material that withstands temperature changes well and does not deteriorate easily in the presence of ambient humidity, which is especially relevant when used outdoors. The dark grey tone of the finish gives it a clean, understated appearance that suits modern façades, but also more classic or stone-built structures.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the interior of the wall light to be seen and lets light through directly. This makes the light beam more defined and ensures illumination reaches clearly the area where it is needed. It is a common choice in signalling luminaires, where the key requirement is that the spot is well lit and easy to identify from a certain distance.

The 9W, 3000K SMD LED light source produces a warm light that does not distort the colours of the surroundings. In a garden or on a terrace, this type of light makes plants, wood, or stone appear in their true tones. It is not a cold or white light, but rather closer to sunlight at sunset, which is pleasant for spending time outdoors at night.

The driver is included, which simplifies installation. There is no need to calculate compatibility or purchase additional parts. The wall light arrives ready to connect, once the electrical point on the wall has been prepared.

Although this lamp does not incorporate a motion sensor, it can be perfectly combined with an external detector if you want to automate switching. Adding a motion sensor to the installation is a common solution at entrances and access points where someone is not always near the switch. The wall light accepts this type of configuration without any issue.

In terms of weight, the wall light weighs less than 700 grams, which makes it easy to handle during installation and does not require complex fixings. Direct wall mounting is straightforward and does not require any special tools beyond those commonly used for basic masonry work.

This FARO model works well as signalling lighting at entrances, outdoor staircases, or passageways. It can also be used on terraces or patios where you want to define a space with light without needing to install a larger luminaire. The scale of the wall light makes it useful in spaces with limited wall area, where a larger lamp would not fit.

Questions and answers

Can the transparent polycarbonate diffuser yellow over time due to sun exposure?

The polycarbonate used in this wall light is treated for outdoor use. Even so, as with any plastic material exposed to prolonged sunlight, some variation may occur over the years. Orienting the lamp so that the diffuser does not receive direct solar radiation for many hours a day helps to preserve its original appearance.

Is a colour temperature of 3000K suitable for illuminating an outdoor passageway?

Yes. 3000K produces a warm light that illuminates clearly without being glaring. For signalling and outdoor transit areas it is a common temperature, as it allows the surroundings to be seen clearly while also creating a pleasant atmosphere.

Is the wall light compatible with an external motion sensor?

This wall light does not include an integrated motion sensor, but it can be connected to an external detector installed in the electrical circuit. This is a common configuration in outdoor installations and does not affect the operation of the wall light or the included LED lamp.
