Overview

The FARO outdoor wall light is a lamp designed for open-air spaces where visual appearance matters as much as durability. It works well in gardens, terraces, and facades, where stable light and a material that can withstand environmental conditions without degrading over time are needed.

What sets this wall light apart is its brass body. It is not merely a decorative material — brass resists moisture, temperature changes, and prolonged sun exposure without losing its properties. For an outdoor luminaire, that makes a real difference. The transparent glass diffuser allows light to come out cleanly, without filtering or distorting it.

FARO is a European brand with years of experience in lighting. Their products combine careful design with durable materials, and are intended to be installed once and forgotten about.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light you need access to a power point on the mounting surface. The socket is E27, compatible with standard LED bulbs of that format — not included with the product. Before mounting the lamp, make sure to cut the power from the electrical panel. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to have the installation carried out by an electrician. The weight of the wall light is 1.75 kg, so the wall must be able to support it with appropriate anchors according to the type of surface.

Brass requires no special maintenance, but it is a good idea to clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth from time to time to remove accumulated dust or dirt. Avoid abrasive or harsh chemical products that could damage the finish. The diffuser glass can be cleaned with a soft cloth. The IP44 protection rating ensures that the wall light resists the ingress of solids larger than 1 mm and water splashes from any direction, although it is not designed to be submerged.

Design and use

This outdoor wall light belongs to a line of timeless-style luminaires — no passing trends, no shapes that go out of fashion. The lantern silhouette is reminiscent of classic garden and facade lamps, but with construction that meets current standards. The result is a product that fits effortlessly in a country house as well as in an urban home with a terrace.

The brass body is not just an aesthetic choice. It is a material that ages well, that does not rust like untreated steel, and that maintains its integrity even in areas where sunlight hits directly for hours. In climates with sharp temperature changes or in coastal areas where salt in the air can deteriorate other materials, brass offers real durability. That is precisely why many quality outdoor luminaires are made with this material.

The transparent glass diffuser is an important detail. It allows the light source to be seen from the outside, giving the wall light that traditional lantern appearance. The light it projects is direct and clear, without filters that dim it. On a terrace or at the entrance to a garden, that translates into functional and pleasant lighting at the same time.

The E27 socket is compatible with the vast majority of LED bulbs on the market. You can choose the colour temperature you prefer depending on the use — warm light for a terrace where you want a more intimate atmosphere, or neutral light if the main function is visibility. The maximum accepted power is 15 W, sufficient to comfortably illuminate a walkway or a garden corner.

The wall light measures 230 mm high, 120 mm long, and 200 mm deep. It is not a large lamp, which makes it suitable for walls where an overly dominant presence is not desired. Even so, its weight of almost two kilos gives it a solidity that is noticeable to the touch and to the eye.

Regarding the IP44 protection rating, it is the recommended standard for covered or semi-covered outdoor areas — a roofed terrace, a house entrance, the side of a porch. It is not intended for installation in areas that receive continuous direct rain, but it is suitable for most common outdoor uses.

The motion sensor is not included in this model, although the wall light can be combined with external detectors depending on the installation. If your patio or garden requires a fixture that activates by motion, you can consult integration options with your electrician.

The compatibility of this lamp with LED bulbs makes consumption efficient. An LED bulb of 8 to 10 W in an E27 socket provides sufficient light for most outdoor uses without resulting in high consumption. The wall light accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and the rest of Europe.

Questions and answers

Does the wall light include an LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The socket is E27, which is a very common format on the market. You can use any LED bulb compatible with that socket and with a maximum power of 15 W.

Is the IP44 protection rating sufficient to place the wall light on an exposed exterior facade without a cover?

IP44 protects against water splashes from any angle, but it is not designed to receive direct rain for extended periods. It is more suitable for covered terraces, porches, or areas with some shelter. For a completely exposed facade, a higher protection rating is recommended.

Does the brass body maintain its appearance over time and with sun exposure?

Brass is a material that develops a natural patina over the years, which is part of its character. Sun exposure does not deteriorate it structurally. If you want to maintain the original shine, you can clean the surface with products specifically designed for brass.
