Overview

MUFFIN is an outdoor wall light designed to be mounted directly on the wall. It works well at home entrances, covered terraces, facades, and passageways where stable, weather-resistant lighting is needed. The aluminum body and opal polycarbonate diffuser make this lamp well-suited for continuous outdoor use.

The wall light directs light downward and to the sides, illuminating the wall surface and the floor in front of it without creating harsh light points. The opal diffuser spreads light softly, without dark areas or annoying glare. It is a practical option for those looking for something simple, durable, and visually unobtrusive.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in luminaires for residential and professional use. Their outdoor products combine technical materials with a contemporary design that fits different types of housing.

Installation and specifications

For installation, you need a wall recessed box or a surface mounting base compatible with the wall light's anchor. Before starting, make sure to cut the power from the electrical panel. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase an E27 LED spotlight of up to 15 W separately. The wiring must be concealed inside the wall or protected with a conduit suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician.

For cleaning the body, a damp cloth without abrasive products is sufficient. The opal diffuser can be cleaned with water and mild soap. Avoid solvents and products containing alcohol, as they can damage the PMMA surface. Periodically check that the anchors are secure, especially if the area is exposed to wind.

Design and use

The MUFFIN wall light has a compact profile that does not protrude excessively from the wall. Its dimensions—230 mm high, 220 mm long, and 245 mm deep—make it suitable for spaces where a bulky luminaire is not desired. The dark grey finish gives it a sober appearance that pairs well with concrete facades, exposed brick, or cladding in neutral tones.

The body is made of aluminum, a material that withstands temperature changes and humidity well. It does not corrode easily and retains its shape over time. The opal PMMA diffuser is durable and does not yellow as quickly as other plastics exposed to sunlight for long periods. This means the lamp retains a good appearance after several years of outdoor use.

The light produced by this wall light is diffuse and uniform. There is no bright point visible through the diffuser, which is comfortable both for people passing nearby and for those looking from the inside out. Installed next to a front door or on a terrace wall, it illuminates the necessary area without causing glare.

On a facade with several wall lights of the same model, the result is neat and coherent. When combined with other garden luminaires, it is advisable to maintain a similar materials palette so that the overall look does not appear mismatched. The dark grey of the body is a neutral color that does not impose a specific style and adapts to both modern homes and more traditional buildings.

Using an E27 LED spotlight in this wall light reduces electricity consumption compared to conventional bulbs. The maximum accepted power is 15 W, sufficient to illuminate a passageway or the entrance to a home. The luminaire accepts voltages between 100 V and 240 V, making it compatible with standard electrical installations in Spain and most countries.

Although the wall light does not have an integrated motion sensor, it can be combined with an external detector in the electrical circuit if that function is desired. In this way, the lamp would only switch on when movement is detected, reducing consumption and increasing convenience. This type of configuration is common at garage entrances, side accesses to the home, or garden areas that do not require continuous light throughout the night.

The weight of 1.67 kg indicates that the structure is solid without being excessively heavy for wall mounting. Installation on masonry, brick, or mortar surfaces presents no particular difficulties, provided the appropriate anchors for the wall type are used.

Questions and answers

Does the MUFFIN wall light include a bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. You need to purchase an E27 LED spotlight of up to 15 W separately before you can use the lamp.

Does the PMMA diffuser withstand prolonged sun exposure without deteriorating?

Opal PMMA is more stable than other plastics when exposed to solar radiation. It does not yellow as quickly and maintains its optical properties for longer, although periodic cleaning helps preserve the finish.

Is it possible to connect this lamp to an external motion detector?

Yes. Although the wall light does not have a built-in sensor, it supports connection to a motion detector installed in the electrical circuit. This way, the lamp only switches on when presence is detected in the area.
