Overview

LAKO is an outdoor wall light from the brand FARO, designed to illuminate entrances, facades, porches and outdoor areas where functional and durable lighting is needed. The lamp projects light at a 90-degree angle to one side only, allowing the illumination to be directed exactly where it is needed, without dispersing it in unnecessary directions.

The aluminum body and prismatic glass diffuser give this wall light a discreet yet solid presence. The IP65 protection ensures that rain and dust do not affect the lamp's performance, making it a suitable option for permanent outdoor installations.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long history in lighting for homes and commercial spaces. Their products combine quality materials with careful design, built to last.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, you need an electrical outlet or wiring embedded in the exterior wall. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially outdoors where moisture can pose an additional risk. Before starting the assembly, make sure to cut off the electrical supply. The fixture is mounted directly onto the wall surface using the included anchors or those suitable for the type of support.

For maintenance, clean the aluminum body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that could damage the dark grey finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth to maintain light clarity. Do not handle the lamp while it is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The LAKO wall light has a compact profile that fits well in spaces where a bulky luminaire is not desired. Its dimensions — 220 mm long, 48 mm high and 70 mm deep — allow it to integrate into the wall without standing out excessively, although its presence is clear thanks to the dark grey aluminum finish.

The warm 3000K light emitted by this lamp creates a welcoming atmosphere outdoors, especially at night. This is not a cold or clinical illumination, but rather the tone that makes an entrance or a porch look livable and well-kept. The prismatic glass diffuser distributes the light gently, avoiding excessive bright spots.

By projecting light at a 90-degree angle to one side only, the wall light allows precise control of the illumination. This is useful in outdoor corridors where you want to light the floor or wall without the light bothering those in the space. It also works well on facades where the goal is to mark a visual direction without illuminating the entire surroundings.

Aluminum is a common material in outdoor luminaires due to its corrosion resistance and low weight. In this case, the lamp body combines that resistance with a modern dark grey finish that does not clash with contemporary facades, stone cladding or treated wood. The IP65 protection ensures that neither direct rain nor dust interfere with the wall light's performance over time.

The included SMD LED light source consumes 8W, making it an efficient option to leave on for hours. At an entrance, a garden or a garage access, that low consumption makes sense when the lamp remains active for much of the night.

Although it is a luminaire designed for outdoor use, its sober aesthetic also makes it suitable for certain well-ventilated indoor spaces, such as covered corridors, enclosed porches or even bathrooms with adequate ventilation, where the IP65 protection level provides an additional guarantee. In indoor rooms such as the living room or bedroom, this wall light can function as ambient lighting if an industrial or minimalist design is desired that does not draw too much attention. In the dining room or kitchen, a lamp with these characteristics can complement other light sources without visually dominating the space.

The dark grey tone of the body pairs well with neutral surfaces: concrete, exposed brick, matte paint in dark tones or metallic cladding. It also contrasts in a balanced way with white or beige walls, where the wall light becomes a visible element without appearing overdone.

The weight of 0.6 kg makes it easy to handle during installation, and the materials used ensure it will not deteriorate over time under normal outdoor use conditions.

Questions and answers

Does the LAKO lamp include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included in the wall light. No additional components need to be purchased for the lamp to function.

What does IP65 protection mean exactly and under what conditions does it protect the wall light?

IP65 indicates that the wall light is completely protected against dust and that it resists water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for installation in outdoor areas exposed to rain, without the need for additional shelter.

In which direction does this wall light project the light and how does that affect installation?

The light is projected only at a 90-degree angle to one side. It is therefore important to position the wall light correctly according to the area you want to illuminate, whether that is the floor, an adjacent wall or the access to an entrance.
