Overview

The FARO KOV wall light is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It works well at building entrances, facades, covered terraces, or any outdoor area where fixed, directed light is needed. Its round shape and white finish suit clean, unadorned architectural styles.

What sets this wall light apart is the ability to direct light upward, downward, or in both directions at once. The light source is recessed inside the body, which prevents direct glare. The beam angle is set at 34° per outlet, so the light reaches where it is needed in a concentrated way, without excessive scattering.

FARO is a brand with a long track record in lighting, with a well-established outdoor range. Their luminaires combine durable materials with functional design, without resorting to unnecessary decoration.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this wall light, check that the surface is solid and can support the fixture. The wiring must be switched off throughout the entire installation. As this is an outdoor lamp, it is important to seal the cable entry point in the wall properly to prevent moisture. The orientation — upward or downward — is defined during assembly, so it is worth deciding before securing the body.

To clean the aluminium body, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white finish. Check occasionally that there is no dirt buildup in the drainage system area, as that channel is what prevents water from pooling inside.

Design and use

The KOV wall light has a white lacquered aluminium body. Aluminium is a common material in outdoor luminaires because it does not oxidise easily and withstands temperature changes well. The white finish gives it a neutral appearance that adapts to light-coloured walls, exposed concrete, or modern cladding.

The cylindrical shape and compact profile mean this lamp does not draw too much attention during the day. When night falls, the warm 3000K light appears softly, without the cold effect given by higher colour temperatures. That warm tone is especially pleasant at house entrances, gardens, and terraces, where a more welcoming than functional atmosphere is sought.

The COB LED spotlight is integrated into the wall light, so there is no need to look for separate bulbs. The light source is recessed inside the body, which means there is no glare when walking past. The light comes out directed, not scattered. This is useful in passageways, where harsh light would be uncomfortable.

One of the choices this wall light allows is selecting whether the light comes out from the top, the bottom, or both sides. With bidirectional light, the lamp illuminates both the upper wall and the floor or lower area. With unidirectional light, you can concentrate all the power in a single direction. This gives considerable flexibility to adapt it to different situations: marking a garden path, highlighting a facade, illuminating access to a terrace.

The drainage system built into the design solves a common problem with outdoor wall lights: water that enters through condensation or light rain. Without that drainage, moisture accumulates inside and can shorten the life of the wall light. With it, water flows and drains away without pooling.

The ability to install the wall light in both vertical and horizontal positions broadens placement options. In the horizontal position, the light goes up and down symmetrically. In the vertical position, the direction changes depending on how the spotlight is oriented. This allows it to be adapted to different points on a facade or wall without the visual result looking forced.

As for integration with the surroundings, the circular shape and white colour mean this wall light combines well with other white or metallic elements. In a garden, it can be placed alongside ground luminaires or post lanterns with a similar finish. On a terrace, it looks good flanking a door or marking the perimeter of an outdoor seating area.

Questions and answers

Can I install this wall light with the light directed both upward and downward at the same time?

Yes. The KOV wall light allows both unidirectional and bidirectional lighting. You can configure it so that the light comes out only upward, only downward, or in both directions at once. That choice is defined during installation depending on how the unit is oriented.

Does the drainage system require periodic maintenance?

It does not require regular intervention, but it is worth checking occasionally that the drainage channel is not blocked by dirt or leaf debris, especially if the wall light is installed near vegetation. An occasional clean with water and a cloth is sufficient.

Is the 34° lighting angle adjustable or is it factory-set?

It is factory-set. Each light outlet has a 34° angle, both the upper and the lower one. It cannot be modified once the wall light is installed.
