Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor installations. It works well at entrances, façades, terraces, and covered accesses where directed lighting is needed without elements that disturb the view. The light source is integrated inside the body, which prevents direct glare and offers a clean distribution of light upward, downward, or in both directions at once.

What sets this wall light apart is its built-in drainage system, which prevents water from accumulating inside the body. Outdoors, that kind of detail makes a difference in the long run. The design is compact and unadorned: a round piece of aluminum in a white finish that integrates effortlessly into walls of different styles.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Their outdoor luminaires are designed to withstand real-world conditions: humidity, temperature changes, and prolonged sun exposure.

Installation and specifications

To install this outdoor wall light, make sure the mounting surface is solid and free of surface moisture before securing the bracket. Since the fixing is on a wall, it is advisable to use plugs and screws suitable for the type of wall: brick, concrete, or block. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, in accordance with local regulations for outdoor installations. Before starting the installation, always cut the power supply at the main panel.

To keep the wall light in good condition, clean the aluminum surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white finish. Periodically check the fixing points to make sure they remain secure, especially after periods of heavy rain or wind. Do not handle the lamp with the electrical installation connected.

Design and use

The body of this wall light is made of aluminum, a material that combines lightness and resistance to outdoor conditions. The white finish gives it a clean, neutral appearance that adapts to both modern façades and more classic walls. The cylindrical design of 80 mm in diameter means it takes up little visual space on the wall, without affecting its presence.

The COB LED light source is integrated in such a way that it is recessed inside the body. This means the light source is not directly exposed to view or to the outside, which improves visual comfort and protects the light source from splashes or dirt buildup. The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light, close to traditional incandescent light, which is pleasant in everyday spaces such as an entrance, a garden, or a terrace.

One of the most practical features of this lamp is the ability to direct the light upward, downward, or in both directions simultaneously. This allows the installation to be adapted according to what is needed in each case: illuminating the floor in front of a door, highlighting a wall, or distributing the light in a more balanced way. The 14-degree beam angles both up and down concentrate the light beam, which is useful when you want to direct the lighting precisely without it dispersing too much.

The wall light can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the wall, which broadens the installation options. This flexibility is useful when the position of the electrical conduit does not match the usual mounting orientation. On a façade with a junction box in a horizontal position, for example, the lamp adapts without the need to change the wiring layout.

The integrated drainage system is a technical element that is not always present in outdoor luminaires of this size. Its function is to prevent water that may enter the interior of the body from becoming stagnant, which over time would cause damage to the internal components. In climates with frequent rain or in exposed installations, this detail considerably extends the service life of the wall light.

As for the spaces where it fits best, this wall light works well at the entrance of a home, next to a garage door, on the sides of a terrace, or along a garden wall. It can also be used in covered outdoor corridors or at building entrances. The white finish and cylindrical shape make it compatible with materials such as exposed concrete, light stone, or smooth stucco. In combination with other luminaires from the same series, it is possible to create a continuous line of lighting along a façade or a patio.

The weight of just over one kilogram makes the wall light easy to handle during installation, without that meaning it is fragile. Aluminum absorbs temperature changes well and does not deform with prolonged sun exposure.

Questions and answers

Does this wall light allow the light to be directed in a single direction, or does it have to emit light both upward and downward?

The KOV wall light allows you to choose between unidirectional or bidirectional lighting. It can be configured so that the light exits only upward, only downward, or in both directions at once, depending on what is needed for each installation.

Does the drainage system require any kind of periodic maintenance?

The drainage system is integrated into the structure of the body and does not require specific maintenance. It is advisable to check that the drainage opening is not blocked by dirt or debris, especially in areas with nearby dense vegetation or after periods of heavy rain.

Is the included COB LED light source replaceable if it fails?

The lamp includes an integrated COB LED light source. For any questions about replacement or issues with the light source, the most appropriate course of action is to contact customer service before attempting to handle it, as it is a component integrated into the body of the wall light.
