Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It works well at home entrances, facades, covered terraces, or any outdoor area where focused lighting is needed without visual distractions. Its round shape and black finish give it a clean profile that does not compete with the surroundings.

What sets this wall light apart is the recessed light source, which prevents direct glare. The light comes out directed, without exposing the bulb to view. It also incorporates an internal drainage system that prevents water from accumulating inside the housing, something that is appreciated in areas exposed to rain or humidity.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in architectural and interior lighting. Their products are designed for both professional projects and domestic use, with a level of craftsmanship that is evident in the details.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure the chosen wall has access to electrical wiring suitable for outdoor use. Turn off the power at the electrical panel before making any connections. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician. The fixture mounts directly to the wall, so it is worth checking the type of surface — brick, concrete, cladding — to use the appropriate anchor.

To keep the wall light in good condition, clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminium finish. Although the lamp is designed for outdoor use, periodically check that the drainage system is not blocked by dirt or plant debris.

Design and use

The KOV wall light has a body made of aluminium, a material that holds up well in outdoor conditions without adding unnecessary weight to the installation. The black finish is uniform and does not reflect excessively, giving it a discreet appearance both day and night. On facades with neutral colours or stone walls, this type of finish blends in without forcing any contrast.

The lamp emits light at 3000K, a warm colour temperature that is pleasant in passageways or resting areas. It is not a cold or technical light, but rather closer to the atmosphere created by late afternoon lighting. On a terrace or at the entrance of a home, that warmth makes the space feel more welcoming upon arrival.

The design allows the wall light to be installed in either a vertical or horizontal position, providing some flexibility depending on how the wiring is planned or how it looks best on the wall. Two angles are available — 23° and 34° — which determine the direction of the light beam: one oriented upward and the other downward. This allows you to decide whether to illuminate the ground in front of the door, highlight the texture of the wall, or project light in both directions at the same time.

The COB LED light source is integrated and already included with the product, so there is no need to purchase it separately. This type of light source concentrates multiple emission points on a single surface, producing a more uniform light than conventional LEDs. The result is a clean beam with no hot spots or uneven shadows.

In gardens with pathways or pedestrian access routes, this wall light works well mounted on a side wall or on entrance columns. The directed light defines the path without illuminating areas that do not need it. It can also be used in inner courtyards or porches, where humidity or variable temperatures require a product that does not deteriorate easily.

If combined with other outdoor luminaires — whether similar wall lights or floor-standing lanterns — it is advisable to maintain the same colour temperature so that the overall scheme has visual coherence. A mix of warm and cool light in the same space tends to produce an unbalanced result.

The KOV wall light does not include a motion sensor or presence detector, so its operation depends on the switch or automation system that is installed. For those looking for a lamp with an integrated sensor, it is worth checking other references in the FARO catalogue.

Questions and answers

What is the colour temperature of this lamp and what kind of atmosphere does it create?

The lamp emits light at 3000K, which corresponds to a warm white tone. It is a light that is neither cold nor clinical, suitable for entrances, terraces, or facades where a calm atmosphere at nightfall is desired.

Does this wall light include a motion sensor or presence detector?

No. The KOV wall light does not incorporate a motion sensor or any type of detector. Its switching on and off depends on the electrical system or the switch it is connected to.
