Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed specifically for outdoor use. It mounts directly onto the wall and provides illumination directed upward, downward, or both directions at once. It is a solution designed for spaces such as a home entrance, a terrace, a garden, or a building façade. Where functional light and visual presence are needed at the same time, this wall light delivers well on both counts.

The light source is integrated within the body, which makes a difference outdoors: there is no direct glare, and the light reaches the surroundings softly and evenly distributed. The 23° emission angle upward and 23° downward allows precise control over where the illumination goes. Additionally, it can be mounted in both vertical and horizontal positions, providing real flexibility at installation time.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in luminaire design for residential and professional applications. Their outdoor products combine careful finishes with concrete technical solutions, such as the drainage system included in this wall light to prevent water accumulation inside.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a recessed wall box or a solid surface that allows the wall light to be securely anchored is required. As this is an outdoor lamp, the wiring must be protected and comply with applicable electrical regulations. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before beginning assembly, ensure that the circuit is de-energized.

For maintenance, simply clean the surface of the wall light with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black aluminum finish. Although the design includes internal drainage, it is advisable to periodically check that there is no accumulation of dirt at the base that could affect operation.

Design and use

The body of the KOV wall light is made of aluminum with a matte black finish. It is a material that withstands temperature variations, humidity, and prolonged sun exposure without losing its properties. The black color, in addition to being discreet, does not show aging in the same way as lighter finishes, making it especially suitable for permanent outdoor installations.

The design is clean and geometric. The cylindrical shape and compact dimensions — 212 mm in height and 80 mm in diameter — allow this wall light to fit effortlessly on modern façades or garden walls with a smooth finish. It is not a lamp that draws attention on its own, but rather integrates into the surroundings and lets the light be the main element.

COB LED technology ensures uniform light emission within the defined angle. The 2700K temperature produces warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent lamp, which feels welcoming without appearing artificial. At house entrances, gardens, or terraces, this light tone creates a calm atmosphere during nighttime hours.

One feature that distinguishes this wall light is the ability to choose between unidirectional or bidirectional illumination. Mounted with light directed upward, it outlines the façade line and creates a volumetric effect on the wall. With light directed downward, it illuminates the ground or access point in a more functional way. With both directions active, it combines both effects. This flexibility allows the lamp to be adapted to different needs without changing the product.

Horizontal or vertical installation further expands the possibilities. In horizontal position, the wall light can function as an accent spotlight on an architectural element. In vertical position, it acts as a signage or ambient luminaire along a garden path or a long terrace wall.

The integrated drainage system is a relevant technical detail. Outdoors, water can enter through condensation or lateral rain, and if it has no outlet, it accumulates and deteriorates the internal components. This wall light resolves that problem through its design, without requiring additional intervention from the user.

For environments such as an inner courtyard or a covered terrace, where there is no direct sun exposure but there is humidity, the KOV wall light also performs well. The lamp adapts to both exposed installations and more sheltered areas, always within the intended outdoor use.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be mounted in a horizontal position as well as vertical?

Yes. The design of this wall light allows it to be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions on the wall, providing more options when orienting the light according to the needs of the space.

What color temperature does this lamp emit and what kind of atmosphere does it create?

The lamp emits light at 2700K, which is a warm tone. Outdoors, this type of light creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere, without the coldness produced by higher temperatures.

Does the drainage system require periodic maintenance?

The drainage is part of the structural design of the wall light and does not require regular intervention. Even so, it is recommended to check occasionally that the lower area does not have an accumulation of dirt that could block the water outlet.
