Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor spaces where light needs to be precise, comfortable and long-lasting. It works well at entrances, porches, facades and terraces, both in private homes and building access areas. Its compact format and clean geometric design allow it to blend in without drawing too much attention, while still performing its function well.

The light source is recessed into the body of the fixture, which prevents direct glare. The distribution can be unidirectional or bidirectional, and the mounting allows vertical or horizontal positioning on the wall. This provides flexibility to adapt the lamp to different situations without being limited to a single installation angle.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Its catalogue includes everything from technical solutions to more decorative designs, always with attention to constructive detail and material durability.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure the wall surface is clean, level and dry. Turn off the power at the electrical panel before making any connections. The wiring must be protected inside the wall or under conduit, without being exposed to the elements. If you do not have experience with electrical installation, it is best to have it carried out by an electrician.

To clean the body of the fixture, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white aluminium finish. Periodically check that no water has accumulated in the drainage system and that the wall fixing points remain properly tightened.

Design and use

The KOV wall light has a white lacquered aluminium body with a circular profile of 80 mm in diameter and 108 mm in height. It is compact yet well built, with a weight of 0.64 kg that gives it solidity without complicating installation. The depth of 87 mm means it protrudes just enough from the wall, without taking up unnecessary space.

The lamp incorporates COB LED technology with a colour temperature of 3000K, which corresponds to warm white light. This type of light is pleasant to the eye in outdoor night settings and does not produce the cold or clinical effect associated with higher-temperature sources. The 14° beam angle concentrates the light beam, making it a directed-projection spotlight, useful for illuminating specific surfaces such as entrances, door numbers, garden vegetation or architectural details on facades.

The light source is recessed inside the body of the fixture. This reduces direct exposure of the LED to the surrounding environment and, at the same time, eliminates glare for people nearby. It is a detail that makes a difference in spaces with foot traffic, such as a porch or an entrance.

One of the most practical features of this wall light is its integrated drainage system. Outdoors, rainwater can seep into or accumulate inside luminaires if they are not well designed. KOV incorporates a channel that allows water to drain out without being retained, which contributes to a longer service life of the fixture.

The wall light can be installed in either vertical or horizontal position on the wall, and the light distribution can be configured as unidirectional or bidirectional. This flexibility is useful when a space has specific constraints: a narrow wall next to a door, an entrance with little lateral clearance, or a terrace where it is desirable to illuminate in two directions from a single point.

In terms of the use environment, this wall light fits well on both modern-style facades and more neutral exteriors. The white aluminium finish is not eye-catching, but it does not go unnoticed either: it has a clean presence that adapts to smooth walls, light stone or contemporary cladding. It can also work in spaces such as gardens or patios, as long as it is installed on a vertical surface.

It does not include a motion sensor, but it can be combined with an external detector if automated switching is desired. Similarly, although it does not feature solar technology, its low consumption of 6W makes it efficient for installations with extended use.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be mounted horizontally as well as vertically?

Yes. The design of the wall light allows it to be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions on the wall, providing flexibility to adapt to different space configurations.

What type of light does this fixture emit and what is its beam angle?

It uses a COB LED light source with a colour temperature of 3000K, which produces warm white light. The beam angle is 14°, so it projects a concentrated and directed beam, suitable for illuminating specific areas.

Does the drainage system of the wall light require periodic maintenance?

It is advisable to check the drainage channel from time to time, especially after periods of heavy rainfall, to ensure there are no obstructions preventing the water from draining properly.
