Overview

DUNE is a compact outdoor wall light, designed to signal and guide in open-air spaces. It mounts directly on the wall and provides discreet but effective lighting at entrances, outdoor corridors, gardens, or terraces where visibility is needed without installing a large spotlight.

What sets this lamp apart is the ability to choose between four color temperatures via a switch integrated into the body itself. No additional tools, no apps, no complicated settings — simply select the tone that best suits the environment or the time of day.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine solid technical criteria with a design conceived to integrate well in different contexts, both indoors and outdoors.

Installation and specifications

For installation, the power supply must be switched off before starting any work. The wall light is mounted directly on the wall using anchors appropriate to the available surface — brick, concrete, or exterior cladding. It is recommended to verify that the surface is level before marking the fixing points. The connection must be made by a qualified electrician if there is no prior experience with 220V–240V installations.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminum body with a slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents that could affect the finish should not be used. The polycarbonate diffuser is cleaned in the same way. It is advisable to periodically check that the fixing screws remain well tightened, especially after seasons with sudden temperature changes.

Design and use

The DUNE wall light has a square format of 100 × 100 mm and only 35 mm in depth, making it particularly suitable for spaces where a bulky lamp would look out of place. Its dark grey aluminum body gives it a sober presence, without drawing too much attention during the day, while performing its function well once night falls.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser directs light efficiently toward the signaling area. It does not over-disperse, it does not create annoying halos. At an entrance or at the access to a garden, that means whoever arrives can clearly see where they are stepping, without the light being dazzling.

The most practical feature of this wall light is the color temperature selection switch. With it, you can adjust between 2200K, 2700K, 3200K, and 4000K depending on the context. A warmer tone, close to 2200K, integrates well in gardens with vegetation or on terraces with a calm atmosphere. The 4000K, on the other hand, is more neutral and works better at entrances or access points where visibility matters. This flexibility means the same lamp can adapt to different moments or needs without changing anything.

As an outdoor luminaire, it is built to withstand the typical conditions of use on facades and exposed spaces. Aluminum holds up well against humidity and temperature changes. The polycarbonate diffuser is more impact-resistant than glass, a real advantage in areas with activity or in homes with children.

Despite its 3 W power, SMD LED technology ensures adequate luminous efficiency for its function as a signaling wall light. It is not a general lighting spotlight, but a lamp oriented toward marking paths, highlighting access points, or providing visual continuity along a wall or exterior facade. In that role it performs well while barely consuming any energy.

In terms of combinations, the dark grey body matches facades in neutral tones, stone cladding, or treated wood. It also works well alongside other luminaires from the same range when uniformity outdoors is desired. On a terrace with several light points, this wall light can act as a secondary element that complements a main spotlight or a higher-power lamp.

The reduced weight, barely 240 grams, makes handling easier during installation. It does not require special reinforcements in the wall, and its flat profile allows it to be mounted even on surfaces with little available space.

Questions and answers

Is the switch for changing the color temperature accessible once the wall light is installed on the wall?

Yes, the switch is integrated into the body of the wall light and is accessible from the outside, so the color temperature can be changed without needing to disassemble the lamp or cut the power.

Can the polycarbonate diffuser yellow with prolonged sun exposure?

The quality polycarbonate used in outdoor luminaires is treated to resist solar radiation. Even so, very intense sun exposure over many years may slightly affect the material, so it is recommended to periodically check the condition of the diffuser.

Is this wall light compatible with external motion sensor systems?

The DUNE wall light does not include its own motion sensor. If you wish to activate the lamp via motion detection, an external compatible sensor would need to be incorporated into the electrical circuit, something that must be assessed and carried out by a qualified installer.
