Overview

This outdoor recessed wall light by FARO is designed for those who want to illuminate a wall without the fixture drawing too much attention. It installs flush with the surface, takes up very little space, and lets the light do the work. The result is a clean, directed beam that defines the surroundings without overwhelming them.

The body is made of 316L stainless steel, a material that holds up well against humidity, salt, and temperature changes. The diffuser is made of glass, giving the spotlight a discreet yet elegant visual presence. The satin stainless finish does not accumulate marks easily and fits effortlessly into contemporary settings.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Their products combine quality materials with careful design, conceived for both residential and professional installations.

Installation and specifications

Installing this recessed outdoor wall light requires an external 24V DC driver, which is not included. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, as the fixture needs to be recessed into the wall and connected to a low-voltage line. Before starting, the housing box in the wall must be prepared with the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the spotlight without gaps.

316L stainless steel requires no special treatments, but it is advisable to clean the light periodically with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The glass diffuser may accumulate dust or outdoor dirt, and can simply be cleaned with water and a soft cloth. Avoid spraying water directly onto the fixture under pressure. Do not touch the light source with unprotected hands to avoid leaving residue on the surface.

Design and use

The FARO recessed wall light has a very compact format: 45 mm per side and 90 mm deep. This makes it suitable for installations where space inside the wall is limited, such as gardens with brick or concrete block walls, facades with a continuous finish, or enclosure walls on terraces and patios.

The 3W COB LED light source emits at 3000K, a warm color temperature that does not distort the colors of the surroundings. It is a type of light that is pleasant to the eye and does not produce the cold, clinical effect found in some outdoor spotlights. When the light is on, the light output is contained and glare-free, thanks to the glass diffuser that distributes the beam evenly.

Being a recessed wall fixture, this spotlight does not protrude from the wall more than necessary. This makes it especially useful in walkthrough areas where a protruding wall light could be inconvenient, such as entrances, outdoor staircases, or side accesses to the home. It also fits well in gardens where the goal is to illuminate without breaking the visual line of the space.

316L stainless steel is a material designed for demanding environments. Unlike standard steel, this grade is far more resistant to corrosion in the presence of salt moisture, making it suitable for installations near the sea or in areas with frequent rainfall. Over time it maintains its appearance without rusting or losing its satin finish.

The glass diffuser with an opal finish gives the light a clean, contemporary look. It is not an overdesigned fixture, nor does it aim to be the center of attention on a facade. Its function is to complement, define nighttime spaces, and provide a warm light that makes the exterior more welcoming. In combination with vegetation, natural stone, or outdoor paving, the visual result is very balanced.

This type of recessed wall luminaire allows different effects to be created depending on its orientation and installation height. Placed at ground level, it illuminates upward and creates a grazing effect on the wall surface. At mid-height, it marks a visual path along a walkway or access route. On high walls, it can be directed downward to illuminate steps or garden areas without the need for a larger fixture.

The fact that it operates at 24V DC makes it compatible with low-voltage installations, which are safer in humid and outdoor environments. It is also an option that can be integrated into solar lighting projects, where the power system generates that voltage directly. Although the lamp does not include a motion sensor or integrated solar detector, it can be connected to a circuit that incorporates those elements externally.

For anyone renovating a garden, patio, or home entrance, this FARO wall light is an option that needs little explanation. It is installed, goes unnoticed during the day, and at night does exactly what is expected of a good outdoor spotlight: it defines the space with warm light, without being intrusive and without falling short.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed wall light work directly with the 220V mains supply?

No. This luminaire operates at 24V DC, so it requires an external driver to transform the mains voltage. The driver is not included and must be purchased separately before installation.

Is 316L stainless steel suitable for installations in coastal areas?

Yes. 316L steel has greater resistance to corrosion from salt and marine humidity than standard stainless steel. This is one of the reasons it is commonly used in outdoor wall lights in coastal environments or those exposed to the elements.

How much depth do I need in the wall to install this spotlight?

The wall light has a depth of 90 mm, which is the measurement that determines the required recess depth in the wall. The visible face dimensions are 45 x 45 mm, making it very discreet once installed.
