Overview

GRUND is an outdoor recessed fixture manufactured by FARO, designed to be installed directly in the ground and provide signage lighting in walkway areas. It integrates into pavements, garden paths, terrace accesses, and façade entrances without taking up visual space. Its anodized black finish makes it unobtrusive during the day, while at night it performs its function with precision.

This spotlight is designed for those looking for a discreet and durable solution. It does not protrude or interfere with the surroundings — it is simply there when needed. It works with a GU10 LED bulb, compatible with universal voltage, making it easy to use in any domestic installation.

FARO is a brand with a track record in technical and decorative lighting. Its products combine functionality with careful design, aimed at both professionals and people renovating their home space.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this floor recessed fixture, it is necessary to prepare a cavity in the pavement with the appropriate dimensions to house the body of the spotlight. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified professional. Make sure the wiring is protected against moisture before proceeding with installation. Check that the surface where it will be installed can support normal foot traffic without exerting direct pressure on the diffuser.

To clean the surface of the recessed fixture, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the anodized finish. Periodically check that the glass diffuser has no cracks and that the body does not accumulate dirt around the edges. Before any maintenance work, always disconnect the power supply.

Design and use

The GRUND by FARO is a recessed spotlight designed for outdoor installations where discreet signage lighting makes a difference. Its stainless steel body with an anodized black finish withstands weather conditions well, without the passage of time significantly altering its appearance. It is a compact spotlight, with dimensions of 92 × 92 mm, that integrates into the floor without creating obstacles or generating uncomfortable shadows.

The transparent glass diffuser allows light to exit cleanly upward, illuminating the immediate area without excessive dispersion. This makes it a suitable option for marking paths in the garden, defining zones on a terrace, or guiding movement through a patio at night. The lamp does not try to dominate the space, but rather to orient those who move through it.

Being a floor-recessed luminaire, it disappears visually during the day. There are no visible cables, no structure interrupting the pavement. When night falls, the spotlight fulfils its function and delivers a return on the investment in safety and comfort. In a façade with a front garden, this type of lighting guides the arrival home without the need to install lanterns or wall lights.

On a terrace, the floor recessed fixture allows the space to be enjoyed without luminaires intruding on the view. It can be combined with other spotlights of the same model to create a continuous line of light flush with the floor, marking the perimeter or the main access. In an interior courtyard, the result is a soft lighting that defines the space without being aggressive.

The stainless steel body provides structural solidity. It is a material that does not rust easily and withstands the usual weight of people walking over the installation area, provided the mounting has been carried out correctly and the pavement is properly prepared. The anodized finish reinforces surface resistance and maintains a uniform colour over time.

This spotlight works with a GU10 LED bulb of up to 5 W, a format widely available in lighting stores. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the environment: warm light for a welcoming garden, neutral or cool light for more functional areas such as accesses or outdoor stairs. The universal voltage makes it compatible with standard installations in Spain and the rest of Europe.

The reduced weight of 0.5 kg makes it easy to transport and handle during installation. Despite its compact size, the construction does not convey fragility. The assembly is designed to last under normal outdoor use conditions, withstanding rain, cold, and sun exposure without premature deterioration.

Questions and answers

Can the body of the recessed fixture withstand people walking directly over it?

The stainless steel body is manufactured for outdoor floor installations and withstands normal foot traffic. It is important that the installation is carried out correctly and that the surrounding pavement is well settled to avoid concentrating pressure on the glass diffuser.

What type of GU10 bulb is compatible with this spotlight?

This recessed fixture accepts any GU10 LED bulb of up to 5 W with a voltage between 100V and 240V. The bulb is not included with the product, so you can choose the colour temperature you prefer according to the outdoor use you intend to give it.

Does the anodized black finish hold up well with exposure to the elements?

Anodizing is a treatment that hardens the surface of the material and protects it against corrosion and discolouration. Under normal outdoor conditions, the black finish maintains its appearance over time without the need for additional treatments.
