Overview

The GRUND BAÑADOR by FARO is an outdoor recessed fixture designed to illuminate walls from the ground, directing light upward and highlighting textures, reliefs, and facade finishes. It is installed flush with the floor surface, with no visible protruding elements. The result is clean, discreet lighting that transforms any space after dark.

This spotlight operates at 24V DC, making it especially suitable for outdoor installations where electrical safety matters. It includes an integrated LED module with a color temperature of 2700K, a warm light that does not harden surfaces but wraps them softly. It is a solution designed for gardens, terraces, patios, or facades where a wall wash effect is desired without installing bulky fixtures.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine real functionality with materials designed to last, both indoors and outdoors.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a cavity must be prepared in the floor with dimensions appropriate to the recessed body. When working with 24V DC voltage, a compatible external transformer or power supply is required. It is recommended that the electrical connection be made by a qualified installer. Before securing the spotlight, check that the wiring is properly protected and that the installation area has sufficient drainage to prevent water accumulation in the recess.

To clean the satin stainless steel body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. The transparent glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not direct water jets directly onto the seals or the electrical connection. Periodically check the condition of the assembly to ensure there is no movement or loosening of the body in the floor.

Design and use

The GRUND BAÑADOR is constructed in satin stainless steel, a material that combines strength with a neutral and elegant visual appearance. Outdoors, this has a direct impact on durability: stainless steel does not rust with humidity nor does its finish deteriorate with continuous exposure to outdoor conditions. The transparent glass diffuser protects the LED module without filtering or altering the tone of the emitted light.

The body has a diameter of 80 mm and a height of just 80 mm, making it easy to integrate into the floor without being intrusive. Once installed, it is barely noticeable during the day. At night, the spotlight projects light upward along the wall plane, creating a continuous wall wash effect that makes every detail of the illuminated surface visible.

The 2700K temperature corresponds to a warm light, similar to traditional incandescent light. Outdoors, this type of lighting works well for highlighting materials such as stone, brick, treated wood, or rough cladding. The effect on textures is remarkable: shadows form naturally, without the light flattening the reliefs. In a garden with stone walls, for example, each texture gains visual depth as the light rises from the ground.

For a terrace, this floor recessed fixture offers a way to create atmosphere without the need for columns, posts, or visible cables. In a small patio, several spotlights placed along a wall create a uniform line of light that visually elongates the space. It also works as facade lighting, where the wall wash effect allows the building's volume to stand out from the outside.

The luminaire operates at 24V DC, a voltage considered safe for outdoor installations. This makes it compatible with low-voltage lighting systems that are increasingly present in residential projects. The LED module is included, so there is no need to purchase it separately or worry about compatibility between the spotlight and the light source.

As for integration with the surroundings, the satin stainless steel finish does not reflect or visually accumulate, allowing the spotlight to go unnoticed during the day and fulfill its function at night. It pairs well with natural stone, polished concrete, or technical porcelain paving. On an outdoor staircase, placed at the base of each step, it helps mark the level change without the need to install wall sconces. On a garden path, it defines the route with a warm light that does not glare.

Its weight of 0,51 kg indicates a solid yet lightweight construction, which makes handling easier during installation. The integrated 7W LED module offers contained consumption for the level of illumination it provides.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed fixture require an external transformer to operate at 24V DC?

Yes. The GRUND BAÑADOR operates at 24V DC and requires an external power supply or transformer compatible with that voltage. It does not connect directly to the domestic 230V electrical network.

Is the LED module included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The LED module is included from the factory. No additional light source needs to be purchased to operate the spotlight.

Does the satin stainless steel body maintain its finish over time when used outdoors?

Stainless steel is a material resistant to humidity and outdoor agents. The satin finish is not painted but inherent to the material, so it does not flake or lose its appearance with normal outdoor use.
