Overview

GRUND is a recessed floor light designed for outdoor installation. Its compact size makes it especially useful in situations where you want to highlight a specific detail without adding volume: the edge of a path, the base of a column, the start of a staircase, or the outline of a façade. The light it produces is warm and directed, allowing precise visual effects to be created without over-illuminating.

The body is made of brushed stainless steel, and the diffuser is clear glass. This combination holds up well in outdoor conditions and maintains a clean appearance over time. The installation runs at 24V, which reduces electrical risk during mounting and in everyday use.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in technical and decorative lighting. Their products are designed for those seeking specific solutions, not just aesthetics. GRUND is a good example of that approach: small, efficient, and easy to integrate into different environments.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this recessed floor light, verify that the circuit operates at 24V DC. It is not compatible with standard 220V domestic networks without an appropriate transformer. Since the fixing is in the floor and the category is outdoor, it is advisable to prepare the housing with sufficient depth to accommodate the 50 mm body depth. Check that the installation area has access to the wiring and that the floor allows recessing without compromising the structure. If you have any doubts about the electrical installation, consult an electrician.

For maintenance, clean the diffuser glass with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that may scratch the surface. The brushed stainless steel body can be cleaned in the same way. Do not use pressurised water directly on the spotlight. Periodically check that the recessed fitting remains securely fixed to the floor, especially after periods of heavy rain or frost.

Design and use

The GRUND spotlight takes up very little space. With just 21 mm in diameter and 21 mm in height, it virtually disappears into the floor when not switched on. It is precisely this discretion that makes it valuable in projects where the luminaire should not distract from the surroundings, but work in the background.

The integrated LED module emits at 2700K, a colour temperature that produces warm light, close to that of an incandescent filament. This tone works well in gardens with vegetation, on stone or wood surfaces, and in environments where a welcoming atmosphere is desired rather than clinical lighting. A patio with cobblestones, a wooden terrace, or the entrance to a home are spaces where this type of light fits effortlessly.

The brushed stainless steel body resists moisture, salt, and temperature changes typical of outdoor use. The clear glass diffuser does not alter the colour of the light or disperse it: it keeps it focused, allowing you to point directly at the detail you want to highlight. This is useful when you want to mark the edge of a garden path, illuminate the base of a wall, or indicate a change in level on a terrace floor.

The system operates at 24V DC. This means a transformer is needed to convert the mains voltage to that value. Although it adds a step to the installation process, the result is a safer installation in damp areas or where accidental contact may occur. It is a common solution in outdoor recessed floor lighting, especially in gardens and areas with irrigation.

As for usage possibilities, GRUND works well both individually and in a line. Several spotlights placed at regular intervals can mark a route through the garden, border a staircase, or define the perimeter of a façade without the need for other elements. The discreet format allows them to be installed without visually dominating the space during the day.

The recessed fitting is equally suitable for private terraces, home entrances, paved patio areas, or any outdoor surface where you want to add lighting without altering the aesthetic of the floor. Its weight of 120 grams and reduced dimensions make it easy to transport and handle during installation.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed fitting be installed directly in the floor without a transformer?

No. The GRUND spotlight operates at 24V DC, so it requires a transformer to reduce the standard mains voltage. Without this component, the spotlight will not function correctly and may be damaged.

Is the LED module included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The LED module is included. No additional light source needs to be purchased to set up the recessed fitting.

Does the brushed stainless steel finish hold up well to continuous outdoor exposure?

Yes. Brushed stainless steel is designed precisely for outdoor use. It tolerates moisture, rain, and temperature changes well, and maintains its appearance with occasional cleaning with a damp cloth.

After-sales support

If the product arrives with any manufacturing defect, you have 30 days to report it. Each case is handled individually: write to us with a description of the problem and, if possible, photographs of the condition of the spotlight. From there we will find the best solution, whether that is a replacement or substitution of the item.
