Overview

A recessed floor luminaire changes the way a garden or terrace is perceived after dark. This spotlight from the brand FARO is designed to be integrated into the floor of outdoor spaces and create light paths that guide movement without disturbing the eyes. It is installed flush with the ground, so it does not interfere with the surroundings during the day and provides subtle, functional lighting when it gets dark.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in outdoor and indoor lighting. Their products combine durable materials with restrained design, and this recessed spotlight is an example of that philosophy: small, resistant, and built to last under real outdoor conditions.

The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light that is not harsh. It is the type of lighting that makes a patio or facade look welcoming without the need for high-powered spotlights.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed floor spotlight, it is necessary to create a box or recess in the paving with the appropriate dimensions to house the body of the luminaire. Since this is an outdoor electrical installation, the wiring must be protected and the connection must be made by a qualified electrician. Before installation, it is advisable to verify that the area does not have water accumulation problems below floor level, as although the IP67 protection is high, a correct installation extends the useful life of the product.

To keep the diffuser glass in good condition, simply clean it with a damp cloth when necessary. The satin stainless finish of the body does not require special treatments, although it can be cleaned with products suitable for stainless steel if dirt accumulates. Avoid using abrasive products that may scratch the surface.

Design and use

This recessed floor spotlight from FARO has a very compact format: 37 mm in diameter and 90 mm in height. These dimensions allow it to be integrated into almost any paving without its presence being conspicuous. The body is made of 316L stainless steel combined with aluminium, two materials that respond well to prolonged outdoor exposure, including rain, humidity, and temperature changes.

The transparent glass diffuser lets light through directly, and the included honeycomb panel reduces glare when someone walks nearby. This makes this recessed fitting particularly useful in pathways where the lighting is at floor level and may fall within the visual field of people walking by.

The 2W SMD LED technology consumes very little energy. For garden or terrace lighting, where the goal is not to illuminate large surfaces but to mark a path or define an area, that power is sufficient. The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light that integrates well with natural materials such as stone, wood, or gravel.

The IP67 rating means that the spotlight is fully protected against dust ingress and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter deep for a limited time. In practice, this means that rain, garden irrigation, or water pooling on the paving do not pose a problem for the operation of the lamp.

The IK08 impact resistance and the ability to withstand wheel loads of up to 1000 kg allow this recessed fitting to be installed in traffic areas, including domestic vehicle access ways. It can be placed on garden paths, along the edges of a terrace, at the entrance of a garage, or in any walkway where the route needs to be marked without installing posts or elements that protrude from the ground.

The satin stainless finish of the body adapts to modern environments as well as more natural gardens, as it is neither conspicuous nor discordant. Combined with other recessed spotlights arranged in a line, it creates a luminous pathway effect that works equally well in a patio, on the facade of a home, or along an outdoor staircase.

The LED lamp is included, so the product is ready to install from the outset. There is no need to search for a compatible light source or check sockets or adapters.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed fitting withstand light vehicles passing over it?

Yes. The spotlight has a certified resistance to wheel loads of up to 1000 kg, making it suitable for domestic access areas where light vehicles or garden machinery may pass.

What does IP67 protection mean in real outdoor use?

IP67 indicates that the recessed fitting is completely sealed against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water. Outdoors, this means that direct rain, irrigation, or water pooling on the floor does not affect the operation of the luminaire.

Is the honeycomb panel included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The honeycomb panel is included with the spotlight. Its function is to reduce direct glare when the light is at floor level and within the visual field of people walking through the area.
