Overview

The SCREEN collection by FARO is a technical lighting line designed for outdoor use. This wall-mounted lamp works well in gardens, patios, terraces, and public spaces such as parks or building entrances. Its compact design and robust construction make it a practical option for those looking for durable lighting without complications.

The SCREEN lantern is made from aluminium and transparent polycarbonate, two materials that combine lightness and resistance. It has IP65 certification, meaning it withstands rain and dust without issue. Its IK10 impact resistance is another advantage: it is not easily damaged by accidental knocks. The 360-degree version distributes light symmetrically around the post or wall where it is mounted, with no shadow zones.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products can be found in residential projects and public spaces in several countries. The SCREEN collection is a good example of its approach: clear functionality, quality materials, and finishes that do not draw excessive attention, yet fulfil their purpose well.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lamp is fixed directly to the exterior wall via surface mounting. Before installing it, check that the surface is solid and dry. The electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as the unit operates at mains voltage. Make sure to cut the power before making any connections. The wiring must be protected and sealed to maintain the IP65 ingress protection level of the assembly.

Use and maintenance. The aluminium surface and polycarbonate diffuser do not require special care. To clean the lantern, use a damp cloth with water and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish or the transparent material. Do not disassemble it in rainy or highly humid conditions. Periodically check the fixing points to ensure they remain in good condition.

Design and use

The SCREEN lantern is installed on the wall and projects light outward with a colour temperature of 3000K. This warm tone creates a calm atmosphere, without the coldness of pure white light. It is a common choice for illuminating the garden at night, the entrance to a home, or a patio where time outdoors is desired.

The lamp uses COB LED technology, which concentrates the diodes at a single point to generate more uniform and powerful light. With a maximum power of 14W, it provides sufficient illumination for passageways or resting areas outdoors. It is not a solution designed to light large surfaces, but rather to create specific light points that guide or set the mood in an outdoor space.

The dark grey body integrates well into stone facades, exposed brick, or modern cladding. The transparent diffuser does not filter the colour of the light, ensuring that the warm tone reaches the ground or surrounding elements without alteration. This combination of materials results in a discreet lantern that does not draw attention visually during the day and fulfils its function effectively when night falls.

The IK10 resistance makes it suitable for frequently used areas where accidental contact is possible, such as home entrances, play areas, or outdoor corridors. The IP65 level ensures that neither heavy rain nor dust will affect the lamp's operation. For those living in an area with variable climate, this point makes a difference compared to other options with lower protection.

The 360-degree option is useful when balanced light distribution around the mounting post or wall is desired. Rather than illuminating in only one direction, the beam completely surrounds the installation point. This is practical in garden corners, pathway bollards, or building sides where visibility is needed from more than one angle.

The DALI version allows the lamp to be integrated into more comprehensive lighting control systems, something valued both in large residential installations and in semi-public space projects. Compatibility with these dimming systems adds flexibility to everyday use.

In terms of combining with the surroundings, the SCREEN lantern pairs well with in-ground recessed lights, pathway bollards, or terrace wall lights from the same collection. Using elements from the same line or with similar finishes gives visual coherence to the outdoor space without the need for excessive planning.

Questions and answers

Does the SCREEN lamp maintain IP65 protection after installation if external wiring is used?

IP65 protection depends on the cable seal being correctly carried out during installation. If the cable entry is properly protected with the appropriate accessories, the ingress protection level is maintained. This is why it is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician with experience in outdoor work.

Can the transparent polycarbonate diffuser yellow over time due to sun exposure?

Technical-grade polycarbonate has good UV resistance, but over time and with very intense exposure it may lose some clarity. Regular cleaning with mild products helps keep the diffuser in good condition for longer.

Is the 360º symmetrical lighting option available in all versions of the SCREEN lantern?

The 360-degree light distribution is a specific option within the SCREEN collection. Before purchasing, it is worth confirming that the selected model corresponds to this version, as other configurations exist within the same line.
