Overview

The SCREEN lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed to be mounted directly on the wall. It works well in gardens, patios, entrances, and terraces where functional and durable lighting is needed. The SCREEN collection is designed for open spaces: it withstands rain, dust, and the impacts of daily use without losing performance.

The lantern incorporates an integrated COB LED that distributes light evenly over the illuminated surface. The asymmetric 180-degree distribution option means the lamp projects light to one side, which is useful when installed next to a path, an entrance, or the edge of a garden. There are no dark areas or concentrated light spots: the light covers the area well without bothering the eyes.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its outdoor products are tested under real conditions of use, and the SCREEN collection is a good example of that practical approach.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lantern, make sure the wall supports the required type of anchoring. Cut the power before starting any electrical connection. The lamp operates on universal voltage from 100V to 240V, so no additional transformer is needed. If the installation is carried out in an area exposed to direct rain, verify that the input cables are properly sealed at the point of entry into the wall. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a certified electrician.

To clean the surface of the lantern, use a damp cloth without abrasive products or solvents. Aluminum and polycarbonate are well maintained with periodic basic cleaning. Avoid direct impacts on the diffuser even though the model has IK10 resistance, as repeated impact can affect the finish over time. Do not cover the lamp with materials that prevent heat dissipation.

Design and use

The body of this lamp is made of aluminum combined with polycarbonate, giving it a lightweight yet solid structure. Aluminum holds up well in outdoor conditions: it does not oxidize easily and maintains its dark gray finish for years. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows light to pass through without filtering it excessively, making good use of the 14 W from the integrated COB LED.

The color temperature of 2700 K corresponds to warm light, similar to that of an incandescent lamp. In a garden or patio, that tone creates a pleasant atmosphere at night without being too intense. It is an option that works well both in frequently used spaces and in areas that simply need a light source for orientation.

The lantern is fixed directly to the wall using a wall-mounted system. It does not require a post or pedestal: it anchors onto any flat vertical surface. This makes it practical for facades, garden walls, entrance columns, or terrace walls. The asymmetric 180-degree distribution allows the light to be directed toward a specific direction, which is useful when you want to illuminate a path, access markers, or the ground in front of a door without wasting light toward the opposite side.

The IP65 protection rating ensures that the lantern does not let water or dust through under normal outdoor use conditions. The IK10 index is the highest level of resistance to mechanical impacts, indicating that the product is designed for environments where it may receive accidental blows, such as public parks, gardens with frequent traffic, or passageways.

The dark gray finish fits well with modern facades, stone walls, or concrete surfaces. It is not a decorative lantern in the ornamental sense, but a luminaire with a clean design that does not draw attention to itself. It fulfills its function without altering the aesthetics of the space.

Regarding installation, the lantern operates on universal voltage, which simplifies the process in any standard residential installation. The light source is included, so there is no need to look for a compatible LED separately. No additional post or support is needed, as the fixing system is directly onto the wall.

In a garden, this type of lamp can be combined with ground bollards to create layered lighting. On a terrace, it provides functional light without taking up floor space. At an entrance, it directs light well toward the access area thanks to the asymmetric distribution. It is a lamp that adapts to various contexts without requiring complicated adjustments.

Questions and answers

What does the asymmetric 180-degree light distribution mean in this lantern?

It means that the lamp projects light to one side instead of distributing it in all directions. This is useful when installed next to a path or an entrance, as it concentrates the illumination on the ground in front of the lantern without sending light toward the wall or upward.

Does the IP65 rating also protect the lamp against direct rain?

Yes. IP65 indicates complete protection against dust and against water jets from any direction. The lantern can be installed in outdoor areas exposed to rain without any problem.

Is it necessary to purchase the light source separately for this model?

No. The 14 W COB LED is integrated and does not require any additional component to function.
