Overview

BLUB'S is an outdoor lamp manufactured by FARO, designed to be mounted directly on the wall. Its compact format and contemporary lines make it suitable for entrances, patios, terraces and façades where neat, long-lasting lighting is desired. The lantern combines aluminium in a dark grey finish with an opal polycarbonate diffuser that distributes light evenly, without bright spots or harsh shadows.

This lamp works with an E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the space. The aluminium body withstands outdoor conditions well without losing its shape or finish over time. The 30 cm version offers a balanced size: enough visual presence without taking up too much space on the wall.

FARO is a company with decades of experience in lighting, with particular attention to outdoor design. Their products are designed for real installations in private homes, with materials and proportions suited to everyday use.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an outdoor power outlet or a wiring point in the wall is required. As it is a wall-mounted fixture, the lantern is fixed directly onto the vertical surface. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if the cable needs to be run through the wall. Check that the mounting base is properly levelled before securing the lamp body.

For maintenance, simply clean the exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminium finish or the opal diffuser. Always disconnect the power before cleaning or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The design of this lamp follows a simple logic: to provide effective outdoor lighting without the lantern being overly eye-catching. The lines are contemporary, with geometric volumes and no ornamentation. The dark grey aluminium finish integrates well with both light-coloured façades and stone surfaces or dark cladding.

The opal PMMA diffuser is one of the elements that most influences the visual result. This material filters the light from the bulb and distributes it evenly towards the outside, without the light source being visible as a point. In a garden or at the entrance of a home, this translates into continuous ambient light, without glare or harsh contrasts. This is not a lamp designed to intensely illuminate a specific area, but rather to create a warm and stable luminous presence.

The aluminium body provides solidity without adding excessive weight. At 1.67 kg, the lantern attaches securely to the wall without requiring complicated anchoring. The dimensions — 260 mm in length and 240 mm in height — give a size that feels proportionate on standard walls, without dominating the façade or appearing too small.

This luminaire fits well in spaces such as interior patios with outdoor access, covered or uncovered terraces, entrances to detached homes and garden areas close to the house. In these contexts, a wall lantern tends to work better than a post or ground-level bollards, because it directs light towards walkways without occupying space on the paving.

Compatibility with standard E27 LED bulbs makes it easy to find the right type of light. A warm-toned bulb enhances the atmosphere of the façade after dark. A neutral-toned one can be useful in access areas where a little more brightness is needed to move around comfortably. The lamp accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with domestic installations in different countries without an adapter.

Combined with other outdoor pieces in the same style, the ensemble can visually organise an entrance or a side of the house. It also works well independently, as a single light point on a wall next to a door or window. The lantern requires neither a post nor a pedestal: it goes directly onto the surface, which simplifies both the installation and the aesthetic result.

Questions and answers

Does the BLUB'S lamp include an E27 LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The lamp is compatible with standard E27 LED bulbs, which you can purchase separately and choose according to the colour temperature you prefer for your outdoor space.

What advantage does an opal PMMA diffuser have over a transparent diffuser?

The opal PMMA diffuses the light before it reaches the outside, which eliminates the bright point of the bulb and distributes the illumination evenly. The result is softer, more uniform light without direct glare.

Can this lamp be installed on a terrace exposed to rain or only in covered areas?

The product is categorised as an outdoor luminaire and manufactured in aluminium with a polycarbonate diffuser, materials commonly used in this type of installation.
