Overview

The SAIGON pendant lamp by FARO is a luminaire designed for outdoor use. It hangs from the ceiling and provides clean lighting on terraces, porches, gardens and patios. Its shape is simple and straightforward: no ornaments, no distracting elements. The conical shade in opaque white delivers soft, uniform downward light without glare.

What sets this lamp apart is the material of the shade. Textilene withstands temperature changes without deforming or losing colour over time. This makes it suitable for outdoor use where conditions change throughout the year.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their collections combine functional design with materials selected to last.

Installation and specifications

For installation, this pendant lamp requires a ceiling light point with a cable outlet. A suitable junction box for outdoor use is necessary. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to have an electrician carry out the assembly. Make sure the ceiling support can bear the weight of the unit. Always disconnect the power before starting any work.

For maintenance, clean the aluminium body with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The textilene shade can be cleaned with water and a clean cloth. Periodically check the connections and the general condition of the lamp, especially after periods of heavy rain or strong wind.

Design and use

The SAIGON collection was born with a clear idea: outdoor lighting without complications. There are no unnecessary details, no competing shapes. Just clean lines and materials that do their job well. That is the philosophy behind this pendant lamp, and it shows at first glance.

The body is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish. It is a material that holds up well outdoors, does not rust easily and maintains its original appearance for years. The dark grey is a tone that works well against almost any background: white walls, natural wood, stone or dark cladding. It does not impose a particular style but rather adapts to it.

The conical shade is the most visible element of the lamp. It has a cone shape with the open end facing downward, which concentrates the light in the area that matters most: the garden table, the doorway, the corner of the porch where the family sits in the evenings. The opal diffuser softens the light and prevents the bulb from being directly visible. The result is pleasant lighting, without harshness.

Textilene is a technical material used outdoors for its durability. It withstands sun, cold and humidity without visibly deteriorating. Unlike conventional plastic shades, it does not yellow over time or become brittle. That is a detail that makes a difference when the lamp has been installed for several years.

This luminaire works well in different contexts. On a large terrace it can hang above the main table and become the central light source. On an enclosed or semi-open porch it provides a warm atmosphere without the need to install multiple lights. In an interior courtyard, where space is sometimes more limited, its conical shape takes up little room and provides a great deal of useful light. It also fits in covered pergolas or outdoor galleries where simple, long-lasting lighting is desired.

The lamp accepts an E27 LED bulb, which is not included. This allows you to choose the colour temperature that best suits the atmosphere: warm white for a more intimate feel, neutral white for passageways or work areas. With a maximum power of 15 W, it is sufficient to illuminate a small space without consuming too much energy.

In terms of style, SAIGON is neither an old-fashioned nor an overly modern lamp. It has a discreet appearance that does not clash with more defined design elements. If the garden combines materials such as wood, iron or wicker, this pendant lamp integrates without issue. In more contemporary spaces, the dark grey aluminium reinforces the sober line of the whole. It is a piece that does not draw attention on its own, but once installed you can tell it has been well chosen.

Questions and answers

Does the textilene shade material hold up well against rain and direct sunlight outdoors?

Yes. Textilene is a technical material designed for outdoor use. It withstands exposure to sun, rain and temperature changes without deforming or losing colour. It is one of the reasons it is used in quality outdoor lamps.

Does the aluminium body with a dark grey finish require any special treatment to maintain its appearance?

No special treatment is required. Simply clean it from time to time with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive or chemical products that could damage the finish. Aluminium is naturally resistant to corrosion, which makes outdoor maintenance easy.

Is the lamp compatible with standard E27 base LED bulbs?

Yes. It accepts any E27 base LED bulb of up to 15 W. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the colour temperature you prefer depending on the atmosphere you want to create.
