Overview

The SAIGON OUT M W70 pendant lamp by FARO is designed for outdoor spaces that require functional and durable lighting. It is an exterior luminaire designed to be ceiling-mounted, with no intermediate tension cables or hanging wires, giving it a direct and stable fixing. It works well on covered terraces, entrance porches, gardens with a roofed pergola, or any outdoor area where a centrally positioned and securely anchored light is desired.

Its distinguishing feature compared to similar lamps is the rigid ceiling fixing, which makes it more resistant in adverse conditions. It does not move in the wind, requires no adjustments over time, and maintains its original position. The PEMD diffuser with an opal finish distributes light evenly, with no bright spots or shadowed areas.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its outdoor range combines technical durability criteria with a design that fits domestic environments without appearing industrial or overly ornate.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this outdoor pendant lamp, make sure the ceiling area where it will be anchored is dry and protected from direct rain. The fixing is rigid, so the mount must be on a solid surface. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by an electrician, as it involves connection to the mains and working at height. Verify that the ceiling wiring is compatible with the unit's voltage before connecting.

To keep the lamp in good condition, clean the aluminium body with a slightly damp cloth when dust or dirt accumulates. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the dark grey finish. The opal diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Do not handle the lamp while the installation is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The SAIGON OUT M W70 is an outdoor pendant lamp with a body made of aluminium and finished in dark grey. The aluminium gives it solidity without adding excessive weight, which facilitates installation and keeps the assembly light for the anchor point. The PEMD diffuser with an opal finish softens the light output and distributes it evenly downward and to the sides.

With a diameter of 1050 mm, it is a generously sized piece that illuminates large spaces well. It works especially well as a central lamp on a medium to large covered terrace. It can also serve as the main light source on an entrance porch or in a covered garden area. In a spacious inner courtyard, it provides central illumination that avoids the need to install several additional spotlights.

The tension-free fixing design is one of the most relevant aspects in outdoor spaces. In areas with wind or where conditions change with the seasons, a pendant lamp with a direct ceiling anchor behaves more predictably. It does not swing, does not generate noise, and does not require frequent inspections of the suspension system.

The dark grey finish of the body works well in environments where natural materials such as wood, stone, or concrete predominate. It is not a rustic-style lamp in the decorative sense of the term, although it integrates well into spaces with such materials. Nor is it a piece with overly complex lines: its shape is clean and balanced. It can be described as a lamp with a discreet aesthetic, one that does not compete visually with its surroundings but integrates into them.

For those seeking a more contemporary outdoor lighting option, the SAIGON OUT M fits with smooth surfaces and modern structures. A pergola with a polycarbonate roof or a terrace with stoneware flooring and furniture with simple lines are good contexts for this piece. At the same time, on a porch with a wooden beam or in a garden with dense vegetation, the dark grey body recedes into the background without clashing.

It uses an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the space: a warmer light creates a more welcoming atmosphere on a terrace used at night, while a more neutral light is useful if the space is also used for specific tasks. Compatibility with voltages from 100V to 240V allows it to be used in different electrical configurations without additional adapters.

Questions and answers

Why does this lamp not need tension cables to be installed on the ceiling?

The fixing system of the SAIGON OUT M W70 is designed to anchor directly to the ceiling in a rigid manner. This eliminates the need for tension cables or additional suspension wires, making the installation cleaner and the lamp more stable, especially outdoors where wind can affect hanging components.

Does the PEMD diffuser with an opal finish affect the amount of light that reaches the floor?

The opal diffuser disperses light rather than concentrating it, which reduces direct glare but also softens the intensity at any specific point. The result is a more uniform and pleasant illumination throughout the space, suitable for terrace or garden seating areas where ambient light is preferred over focused light.

Does the aluminium body with a dark grey finish hold up well against sun exposure and temperature changes outdoors?

Aluminium is a common material in outdoor luminaires due to its corrosion resistance and stability in the face of thermal changes. The dark grey finish is applied to the body to protect it and maintain its appearance over time. To keep it in good condition, periodic cleaning with a damp cloth is sufficient.
