Overview

The BERET floor lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed to illuminate gardens, pathways and entrances with a clean line and no unnecessary ornamentation. It is driven into the ground and operates independently, without relying on batteries or solar light. It is intended for those who want the exterior of their home to be well lit without complicating the installation or maintenance.

The floor lamp measures 180 cm in height, which allows the light to reach a wide area around the pole. The body is made of aluminium in dark grey, and the opal PMMA diffuser distributes the light evenly, without annoying glare or dark spots. The integrated LED operates at 4000K, a neutral colour temperature that does not distort the appearance of the garden at night.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products are designed for real domestic use, with materials that withstand the test of time and a design that does not draw too much attention to itself.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is necessary to prepare a base in the ground with access to the electrical mains. The power cable must be protected and buried in accordance with local electrical regulations. It is recommended to have an electrician carry out the final connection. The floor lamp is fixed directly to the ground via the pole base; it is advisable to verify that the surface is level before anchoring it.

To clean the floor lamp, a damp cloth on the aluminium body and the diffuser is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used. Periodically check the condition of the anchors and the electrical connection to ensure safe long-term operation.

Design and use

The BERET floor lamp is part of an outdoor lighting series that combines a contemporary design with integrated LED technology. Within the same collection there are also bollards of lower height, making it possible to create a coherent ensemble along a pathway or at different points in the garden. The floor lamp, with its height of 180 cm, acts as a visual reference point and as the main source of light outdoors.

The dark grey aluminium body withstands outdoor conditions well without rusting or losing its appearance over time. It is a lightweight material for its strength, which makes transport and installation easier. The dark grey tone integrates effortlessly into modern settings, and also complements gardens with dense vegetation or natural stone paving.

The opal PMMA diffuser is the element that defines how the light is perceived around the floor lamp. Rather than a direct spotlight, the light disperses gently, creating a balanced atmosphere in the patio or at the entrance to the home. There is no glare when looking towards the floor lamp, and the halo it projects onto the ground is sufficient to move around comfortably.

The SMD LED light source at 4000K offers a neutral tone, neither too warm nor too cold. This type of light works well for functional outdoor lighting: it allows clear visibility without creating the feeling of industrial lighting. The LED is included in the product, so it does not need to be purchased separately.

The floor lamp operates between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard domestic electrical installation in Spain and most of Europe. No additional adapter is required.

As for its location, it is particularly suitable for access pathways, entrances to detached houses or areas of the garden where some visibility during the night is desired. It also fits well on large terraces or along plot boundaries. Its simple lines do not clash with almost any garden style, from the most open to those that combine natural elements with more modern finishes.

Those who already have outdoor lamps with motion sensors or automatic switching systems on their property can integrate this floor lamp into the same circuit. In that case, the sensor controls when the lighting activates without any need to intervene in the floor lamp itself. This is a common way of combining different light points in a coherent outdoor installation.

There are situations where solar or rechargeable lighting is not a practical option: gardens with a lot of shade, access areas that need to function regardless of the weather, or homes where reliance on a rechargeable battery is undesirable. This floor lamp covers those kinds of needs without complications, as it runs directly from the mains and maintains the same performance every night, regardless of the hours of sunshine the previous day.

The floor lamp can also act as an aesthetic reference point within the overall garden setting. It is not a classic-style lantern with ornamentation, but a piece with straight lines that complements steel fencing, polished concrete paving or facades with smooth finishes. A lantern of these characteristics allows the other exterior elements to take centre stage, because the luminaire itself does not impose any particular style.

From a lighting perspective, 180 cm in height is a measurement that strikes a good balance between coverage and visual discretion. Lighting that is too low concentrates the light on the ground and leaves the surroundings in semi-darkness; one that is too high can feel intrusive. This floor lamp finds an intermediate point that works both in small gardens and in longer access areas where several units are placed in a row.

At night, the feeling conveyed by this type of outdoor lighting is that of a liveable space beyond the front door. The garden ceases to be perceived as a dark place that must be crossed carefully and becomes a natural extension of the home. No large plot is needed to make the most of that effect: even in access areas of just a few metres, a well-placed floor lamp changes the perception of the space.

Questions and answers

Does the BERET floor lamp include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is included in the product. It is not necessary to purchase it separately or carry out any additional bulb installation.

Does the aluminium body of the floor lamp require any special treatment to withstand rain or outdoor humidity?

Aluminium is a material that requires no additional treatments for outdoor use. Periodic cleaning with a damp cloth is sufficient to keep the finish in good condition.

Is the BERET floor lamp compatible with motion sensor switches or automatic switching systems?

The floor lamp operates with the standard mains supply between 100V and 240V. Compatibility with a motion sensor or other control systems depends on the electrical installation of each home, not on the floor lamp itself. Consult an electrician if you wish to incorporate that type of automation.
