Overview

The FARO SAU 156 is an LED spotlight designed for outdoor use. It is driven directly into the garden ground and directs light where it is needed most: a plant, a tree, a stone wall, or any element worth highlighting when night falls. The result is directional, clean lighting with no visible cables or complicated installations.

What sets this spotlight apart is the combination of a compact design and IP65 protection, making it resistant to dust and water. It can remain outdoors without any issues, even in areas exposed to rain or moisture in the garden or patio.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long history in lighting for indoor and outdoor spaces. Their products are aimed at those looking for consistent quality, both in finishes and long-term performance.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation: this spotlight is fixed to the ground using a stake, with no need to drill or anchor into hard surfaces. Before installing it, check that the chosen spot is near an outdoor power outlet or a circuit enabled for garden use. Make sure the wiring is protected and buried at the appropriate depth according to local regulations. The spotlight must be firmly set in the ground and correctly oriented before connecting it.

Use and maintenance: clean the surface of the spotlight with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black aluminium finish or the PC diffuser. Although the IP65 protection rating guarantees water resistance, avoid directing pressurised water jets directly onto the body of the spotlight. Periodically check that the stake remains firmly in place and that the lighting angle is maintained in the desired position.

Design and use

The SAU 156 is a small-format spotlight with a clear visual presence. Its aluminium and ABS body with a matte black finish blends in without drawing too much attention during the day, and at night it becomes the element that defines how the garden or the exterior of the home looks.

The stake fixing system makes it a flexible spotlight. It can be repositioned, the angle adjusted, and the light distribution rethought without any construction work. This is especially useful in gardens where elements change with the seasons: a growing plant, a newly planted tree, an area being renovated. The spotlight adapts effortlessly.

The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to the tone of traditional incandescent bulbs. This type of light works well on natural materials: stone, wood, earth, vegetation. It generates soft shadows and a sense of depth that the eye perceives as pleasant. It is not a cold or technical light; it is a light that makes the exterior of the home look inviting and well-kept.

The integrated COB LED source offers uniform emission within the defined beam angle. The transparent PC diffuser does not alter the colour of the light and allows the beam to reach the target point cleanly. It is an efficient reflector for its size: with 13W it handles decorative lighting well without excessive consumption.

With IP65 protection, this spotlight withstands continuous outdoor exposure: rain, humidity, dust, temperature changes. It is the appropriate level of protection for a spotlight that will be placed in the garden ground, near frequently watered plants or in areas with a lot of soil and water movement.

The design of the SAU 156 fits well in gardens with a tidy aesthetic, but also in more natural outdoor spaces. It works alone or in groups: several spotlights distributed along a path or around a terrace create a continuous line of light that guides the route and defines the space without the need for any sensors or additional systems.

The black finish makes it discreet in any environment: among plants, alongside stone kerbs, or leaning against a wall. It does not visually compete with the garden elements; it enhances them.

Questions and answers

Does the SAU 156 spotlight include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED light source is included. No additional components need to be purchased for the spotlight to work from the very first moment.

What does IP65 protection exactly mean and how does it affect outdoor use?

IP65 indicates that the spotlight is fully protected against dust and against water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for permanent installation in a garden, patio, or terrace, even in areas exposed to direct rain or irrigation.

Does the stake allow the direction of the light beam to be adjusted once the spotlight is installed in the ground?

Yes. Since it uses a stake system, it is possible to manually adjust the angle of the spotlight by tilting or reorienting it in the ground without tools. This makes it easy to aim the light precisely at the element you want to illuminate, such as a specific plant or an architectural feature.
