Overview

The SAU 155 is an outdoor LED spotlight designed to precisely illuminate specific garden elements: plants, shrubs, facades, sculptures, or any detail worth highlighting when night falls. The narrow light beam, of just 10 degrees, concentrates the focus exactly where needed, without unnecessary dispersion.

The IP65 protection makes it suitable for permanent outdoor installation, without worrying about rain or ambient humidity. The body in aluminium and ABS, finished in black, holds up well in outdoor conditions and blends in without drawing too much attention during the day.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products combine aesthetic sensibility with technical solidity, designed for both interior design projects and direct domestic use.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation: This spotlight mounts directly onto the wall, so before installation it is advisable to identify the nearest electrical conduit and verify that the fixing point is solid. As it is an outdoor spotlight, the wiring must run protected or be designed for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if there is no existing outlet at the chosen point. Check that the mounting surface is level so that the beam angle is correctly oriented from the start.

Use and maintenance: To clean the spotlight body, use a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish. The transparent PC diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time; simply clean it with water and a soft cloth. Do not submerge the product in water or expose it to direct pressurised water jets, although the IP65 protection covers splashing and ordinary rain.

Design and use

The SAU 155 by FARO is a compact outdoor spotlight, designed for those who want to give prominence to specific elements of their garden or terrace without installing a complex lighting system. Its design is clean and geometric: a cylindrical body in black aluminium and ABS that fixes to the wall and directs the light beam downward or toward the element to be illuminated.

The COB LED source type concentrates the emission at a single point, which is especially effective when combined with such a narrow angle as that of this spotlight. Those 10 degrees of aperture allow a tall plant, a planter, a tree trunk, or a decorative garden piece to stand out without the light spilling to the sides. The visual result is a defined beam that creates contrast and depth outdoors during the night.

The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to yellowish white. This type of light works well in gardens because it complements the natural tones of vegetation and stone without distorting them. On a paved terrace or on the floor of an entrance, that warmth provides a more welcoming atmosphere than cool light.

Being wall-mounted, the spotlight can be directed toward areas of the ground, toward vertical elements such as hedges or stone walls, or toward facades with textures that gain interest when illuminated from below or from the side. Wall installation also facilitates wiring, as there tend to be more accessible electrical outlets at that height than on the garden floor itself.

The weight of 1.1 kg makes it a manageable spotlight during installation. Its contained dimensions, 155 mm high and 76 mm in diameter, mean it does not appear bulky on the facade. During the day it goes unnoticed; at night, the lighting effect it generates is what defines the space.

The IP65 protection ensures that neither dust nor water affects the spotlight's operation under normal outdoor conditions. This makes it suitable for permanent installations in gardens, uncovered patios, or home entrances, without needing to remove it during rainy seasons.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser does not alter the colour of the emitted light. This is relevant when used as a decorative reflector over plants or elements of specific colours, as the light arrives exactly as the source emits it.

Questions and answers

Does the SAU 155 include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED light source is included. No additional components are needed for lighting; the spotlight comes ready to connect and install.

What degree of protection does it offer against rain and dust?

It has IP65 protection, which means it is completely protected against dust and resistant to water jets from any direction. It is suitable for fixed outdoor installation without additional cover.

Is the 10-degree angle fixed or can it be widened?

The beam aperture angle is fixed at 10 degrees. It is specifically designed for accent lighting, where the aim is to concentrate light on a specific element. If wider coverage is needed, several spotlights directed at different points would need to be combined.
