Overview

MILA is an outdoor lamp designed to be mounted directly on the wall. Its square structure emits light on all four sides, making this lantern a light source that works in all directions at once. It is an option designed for gardens, terraces, patios, or any façade where constant, well-distributed light is needed without installing multiple light points.

The dark grey aluminium body gives it a firm and discreet character. It does not draw too much attention during the day, but at night the effect produced by this lantern is clean and balanced. The opal diffusion distributes the light without creating areas of excessive brightness or dark spots on the ground or nearby walls.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its products combine quality materials with functional design. MILA is a good example of that line: without unnecessary elements, without installation complications, designed to last under outdoor use conditions.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lantern is fixed directly to the wall by surface anchoring. Before installing the lamp, verify that the chosen support has the capacity to bear the weight of the unit. Check that the installation area has access to the electrical network and that the wiring is protected from outdoor moisture. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Make sure to disconnect the power before starting any connection.

Use and maintenance. Clean the aluminium body with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The PC diffuser may accumulate dust over time; simply wipe it with a soft cloth to keep it in good condition. Do not modify the integrated light source or attempt to access the interior of the unit without the manufacturer's instructions.

Design and use

MILA has a cubic shape with 220 mm sides and a height of 240 mm. It is not a large lamp, but its presence in the space is noticeable. Placed at the right height on an exterior wall, it illuminates both the vertical plane and the nearby ground, creating a uniform atmosphere around the installation point.

The body is made of aluminium, a material that withstands temperature variations and prolonged outdoor exposure well. The dark grey finish integrates easily with neutral-toned façades, stone walls, concrete cladding, or surfaces painted in dark colours. It is not a striking lantern because of its colour, but because of the way it distributes light around it.

The opal polycarbonate diffuser covers the LED source and softens the emission. This material is impact-resistant and does not yellow over time as other plastics do. The light projected by MILA is natural, with a temperature of 4000K, which corresponds to a neutral white tone, neither warm nor cold. It is a type of light that does not distort the colours of plants, ground materials, or decorative elements in the garden.

The integrated SMD LED technology consumes 13W. There is no need to change bulbs or search for compatible replacements: everything is included from the outset. Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V means it can be installed in different electrical systems without additional adapters.

In a garden, this lantern works well when several light points are installed along a perimeter wall or on the façade of the house. The emission in four directions allows each unit to cover a wide area, so it is not necessary to place luminaires very close together to achieve good coverage. On a covered terrace, it provides functional light for times when the space is used at night. At the entrance to a home, it gives presence to the access point and guides those arriving.

MILA can also be placed in interior courtyards or in outdoor passageways between spaces. The combination of several lanterns of the same model creates an orderly visual reading, especially in spaces with straight lines and industrial materials such as concrete or steel. It also coexists well with more natural environments, where vegetation and stone play a leading role.

For those seeking post lighting options in the garden, MILA can complement that scheme when mounted on retaining walls or columns that define the space. It does not replace a post, but it can work alongside one to complete the overall lighting.

Questions and answers

Does the MILA lamp emit light in all directions or only to one side?

MILA projects light on all four sides. Being designed with a square structure and an opal diffuser on each side, the emission is distributed in all horizontal directions from the mounting point.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 13W SMD LED light source is integrated into the product and is included. It is not necessary to purchase or install any additional components for the lamp to work.

Can the PC diffuser deteriorate with prolonged exposure to sun and rain?

The polycarbonate used in the diffuser is a material designed for outdoor use. It withstands impacts well and does not visually degrade with exposure to the elements in the same way as other conventional plastics.
