Overview

The RUSH floor lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed to illuminate gardens, parks and open-air spaces where stable, long-lasting light is needed. With a height of 3.1 metres and a dark grey finish, it blends into natural or urban environments without drawing too much attention. It is not a decorative lamp in the ornamental sense, but a practical solution for those who want their garden well lit without complications.

The aluminium and polycarbonate body provides resistance without adding visual weight. The IP65 protection means that rain, dust and humidity do not affect its performance. The IK10 rating indicates that it withstands mechanical impacts, which is useful in frequently used spaces. The asymmetric 180º lighting option allows light to be directed where it is actually needed, without wasting it on areas that do not require it.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in lighting. Its outdoor collections are designed for real conditions of use, not just for catalogues.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is necessary to prepare a base in the ground that allows the pole to be anchored securely and vertically. It is recommended to hire an electrician to carry out the connection, as this is a fixed outdoor luminaire. Before installing it, make sure that the electrical supply point is properly protected for outdoor use. The universal voltage of 100V–240V makes installation easy on any standard domestic network.

For maintenance, clean the body and diffuser with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that could damage the aluminium finish or scratch the transparent polycarbonate. Periodically check the ground anchoring points to ensure the pole remains secure, especially after periods of heavy rain or strong wind.

Design and use

The RUSH floor lamp is part of a technical outdoor lighting collection. It is not intended as a decorative piece, although its clean design and dark grey tone fit well in contemporary gardens and also in more understated environments. What defines it is its construction: aluminium and polycarbonate combined to provide durability without added fragility.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the LED light to come through without unnecessary filters. The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral white light, which is neither cold like the bluish light of some outdoor systems, nor warm like an old-style lantern post. It is that middle point that allows you to see clearly without the atmosphere feeling clinical.

The 180º asymmetric distribution option is one of the most useful features of this lamp. Instead of projecting light equally in all directions, it concentrates it in a semicircle. This is especially practical when the luminaire is near a boundary, a wall or a side path, and there is no point illuminating the space behind it. With this configuration, the lighting is used more efficiently.

The height of 3.1 metres allows wide coverage without the pole being excessively tall for a private garden. It is a common measurement in outdoor installations for both domestic use and semi-public spaces such as community entrances or small parks. At that height, the light is naturally distributed over the ground and walkways.

The IP65 rating ensures full protection against dust and against water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for permanent outdoor installations without the need for additional protection, even in climates with frequent rainfall. The IK10 adds resistance against impacts, which is appreciated in walkways or in gardens where there may be nearby physical activity.

The included COB LED light source operates at 38 W. Although it is not a high-consumption lamp, it provides sufficient power to properly illuminate a garden area or an access path. The LED requires no warm-up time, works from the very first moment and maintains stable light throughout its useful life.

The RUSH collection is available with different light distribution options. This unit with the 180º option is the most suitable when you want to control the direction of the beam, for example on a terrace with a green area on one side only, or next to the façade of a house where the lighting should point towards the path and not towards the interior.

The dark grey finish of the body withstands continuous outdoor exposure well. It maintains its appearance without the need for additional treatments. In gardens with abundant vegetation, the colour of the pole goes unnoticed during the day and visually blends into the surroundings.

Questions and answers

What does the 180º option on this lamp mean and how does it affect light distribution?

The 180º option indicates that the lamp projects light asymmetrically, covering only half the space around the pole. It is useful when installed next to a wall, on the boundary of a garden or along a path, as it concentrates the lighting in the required direction without illuminating areas where it is not needed.

Is IP65 protection sufficient for a permanent outdoor installation exposed to rain?

Yes. IP65 guarantees full dust-tight protection and protection against water jets from any angle. This makes it suitable for fixed outdoor installations without the need for additional cover, even in climates with frequent rainfall.

Is the LED included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 38 W COB LED light source is included. No additional components need to be purchased to get the lamp up and running once the electrical installation has been completed.
