Overview

TRAS by FARO is a recessed floor light designed for outdoor signage lighting. It is installed flush with the floor and serves to mark pathways, delimit walkways, or define the boundaries of a garden or built area. The result is a continuous line of light that guides without visually saturating the space.

The body is made of aluminium with a matte black finish. The transparent glass diffuser allows light to pass through without distortion, projecting a clean and precise beam. The IP67 rating guarantees total protection against dust and resistance to water immersion, making it suitable for outdoor installations without any additional special protection conditions.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in designing luminaires for indoor and outdoor use. Their products combine rigorous technical criteria with careful attention to form and finish.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed light, the recessed box with reference 71703 is required, which is not included and must be purchased separately. Before beginning installation, check that the floor installation area has the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the box. Cable routing must be protected and kept away from areas with standing water. The working voltage is 24VDC, so a compatible transformer or power supply is required. Once the recessed light is installed, it can be oriented to adjust the direction of the beam according to the needs of the space.

Clean the surface of the body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black aluminium finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry cloth to maintain optical clarity. Although the IP67 rating offers high protection, it is recommended to periodically check the condition of the seal and the edges of the box to ensure there is no accumulation of dirt that could compromise the installation over time.

Design and use

The TRAS recessed light by FARO integrates into the floor without protruding from the surface plane. This makes it a clean solution for spaces where discretion is important: it does not interrupt foot traffic, does not accumulate dirt on protruding parts, and does not visually alter the continuity of the paving. The luminaire sits flush with the floor, and the only visible presence is the glass diffuser and the slight outline of the matte black body.

The aluminium body provides solidity without adding unnecessary weight. Aluminium withstands outdoor conditions well: it does not rust with moisture and does not lose stability with temperature changes. The matte black finish reduces reflections on the surface and makes the luminaire less visible during the day, when the light is not on.

The 4W SMD LED light source emits at 3000K, a warm colour temperature that produces a tone close to yellowish white. This type of light creates a pleasant atmosphere in the garden at night, without the coldness of higher colour temperatures. The LED is included, so the luminaire arrives ready to connect once the recessed box is installed.

Orientability is a practical advantage: it allows the beam angle to be adjusted after installation, without needing to disassemble or modify anything. This makes it easy to fine-tune the direction of the light depending on how the recessed light is positioned relative to the pathway to be marked.

In a garden, a series of these luminaires distributed along a path creates a clear visual guide for moving around at night. On a facade with steps, the recessed floor light allows each step to be marked precisely. In a paved courtyard, it delimits walkways without the need for columns or vertical elements. On a terrace, it can be used to visually separate areas of different use.

Ground-level lighting completely changes the night-time perception of an outdoor space. Shadows are projected upwards, the textures of the paving become visible, and pathways are clearly defined. It is a functional type of lighting, but it also has a visual effect that transforms the appearance of the garden or courtyard when night falls.

The TRAS works well combined with other recessed spotlights from the same range to create uniform pathways. It can also be integrated with wall luminaires or projectors that illuminate wider areas, while the recessed floor light handles the details and boundaries of the space.
