Overview

The FARO in-ground recessed luminaire is a fixture designed for outdoor installation: gardens, terraces, patios, and facade access areas. Its main function is to mark pathways, delimit transit zones, and create orderly lighting that shapes the space when night falls. The spotlight directs the light beam upward with an aperture angle of 24°, allowing illumination to be concentrated exactly where it is needed.

The body is made of 316L stainless steel and aluminium, with a transparent glass diffuser. This combination of materials holds up well against outdoor conditions: humidity, rain, and continuous use in open environments. The IP67 protection ensures that water and solid particles do not compromise its operation. In addition, it withstands rolling loads of up to 1000 kg, making it suitable for installation in pavements used by vehicles or heavy loads.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its outdoor products combine design criteria with durability requirements, and are intended for both construction projects and improvements in private homes.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation: before installing this in-ground recessed luminaire, it is necessary to prepare a recessed box in the pavement with the appropriate dimensions to house the assembly. The recessed box and the driver are included with the product, so they do not need to be purchased separately. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in outdoor installations where work is done near the ground and in areas exposed to moisture. Before installation, verify that the available voltage is compatible with the 100V–240V range indicated by the manufacturer.

Use and maintenance: the satin stainless steel surface can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive or aggressive chemical products that may damage the finish. The transparent glass diffuser is cleaned in the same way. Do not handle the luminaire while it is in operation. Respect the IK08 impact resistance rating as a usage reference: the product tolerates moderate impacts but is not designed for direct, intentional impacts.

Design and use

This FARO outdoor in-ground recessed luminaire works silently within the pavement. Once installed, the spotlight sits flush with the floor, with the transparent glass as the only visible part from above. The light emerges upward at an angle of 24°, generating a precise beam that can be directed to illuminate a wall, a plant, a post, or simply mark the direction of a path in the garden.

The colour temperature of 3000K corresponds to warm light. This type of lighting is pleasant in nighttime outdoor settings: it is not as cold as white light, and gives the space a more welcoming feel without losing clarity. On a terrace or at a facade entrance, that warm tone helps define the outdoor ambiance without the need to add other light sources.

The 316L stainless steel body is one of the strengths of this recessed luminaire. This is a steel with high corrosion resistance, commonly used in marine or industrial environments. In a domestic garden or on the terrace of a home, this means the product maintains its appearance for years without rusting or visibly deteriorating. The satin finish does not reflect light aggressively and fits well in both modern outdoor settings and more understated designs.

The aluminium that forms part of the internal structure adds lightness to the assembly without compromising solidity. The transparent glass diffuser protects the LED while allowing light to exit with minimal filtering, maintaining the efficiency of the 12W COB LED spotlight. This COB technology concentrates multiple emission points on a single surface, resulting in uniform lighting without localised glare.

The IP67 rating indicates that the luminaire is protected against temporary immersion in water and against the ingress of dust. In a patio or garden exposed to rain, this is a basic requirement for any in-ground recessed luminaire. The IK08 impact resistance adds an additional layer of safety against accidental impacts, such as those that may occur during garden maintenance.

The ability to withstand rolling loads of up to 1000 kg broadens the installation possibilities. This recessed luminaire can be placed in vehicle access areas, facade pathways, or transit zones where light garden machinery also passes. It is not limited to pedestrian areas, which considerably expands where it can be integrated.

Regarding the installation set, the fact that the recessed box and the driver are included simplifies project planning. There is no need to source compatible components separately: everything needed to make the recessed luminaire operational is in the box. The product dimensions — 180 mm in diameter and 110 mm in height — are compact, which facilitates integration into pavements of various thicknesses.

Questions and answers

Can a car drive over this recessed luminaire?

Yes. The luminaire is certified to withstand rolling loads of up to 1000 kg, making it suitable for installation in vehicle access areas and facade pathways.

Is it necessary to purchase the recessed box and the driver separately?

No. Both components are included with the product. The recessed box and the driver come in the same packaging, ready for installation.

What does IP67 mean and how does it affect use in a garden or patio?

IP67 indicates that the luminaire is completely protected against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water. In a garden or patio exposed to rain, this rating ensures that moisture does not affect the operation of the spotlight.
