Overview

The GRUND BAÑADOR by FARO is an outdoor recessed spotlight designed to be installed at ground level. Its main function is to project light onto large surfaces — facades, garden walls, terrace walls — with a color temperature of 3000K that is warm without being too yellow. This makes it a suitable option both for highlighting architectural elements and for providing continuity to the lighting of an outdoor space.

The anodized black finish of the aluminum body blends in without drawing attention. It does not dominate the environment or create visual contrast when the lamp is off. When switched on, the transparent glass allows light to emerge in a direct and focused manner, covering large surfaces with greater intensity than other spotlights of similar dimensions.

FARO is a company based in Spain that has been designing and manufacturing lighting products for decades. Its catalog covers both indoor and outdoor spaces, with special attention to finish and product integration into the environment. The GRUND is part of its outdoor recessed line, where discreet design and LED module efficiency go hand in hand.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation: This recessed spotlight requires a 24VDC power supply, so it is essential to have a compatible transformer or power source before proceeding with installation. It is fixed to the floor, which involves preparing a suitable recess in the floor or surface where it will be installed. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional, especially in outdoor environments where humidity and water may be present. Before switching on the spotlight, check that all connections are secure and that the wiring is protected from direct contact with water.

Use and maintenance: To clean the aluminum body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the anodized black finish. The diffuser glass can be cleaned with a soft cloth to maintain transparency and ensure light exits without obstruction. Do not handle the spotlight while it is on or connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The GRUND BAÑADOR is an outdoor recessed spotlight with an aluminum body and transparent glass diffuser. Its compact format — 92 mm in diameter and 92 mm high — allows it to be integrated into the floor without protruding noticeably. Once installed, it practically disappears during the day and fulfills its function when night falls.

The integrated LED module operates at 24VDC and offers a color temperature of 3000K. This shade of light is neutral-warm: it does not distort the colors of the surfaces it illuminates and creates a pleasant atmosphere without feeling cold. It is suitable for washing patio walls with uniform light, for emphasizing the texture of a stone or brick facade, or for marking the edge of a garden path.

The word "bañador" (wall washer) accurately describes the type of projection this spotlight offers: the light does not concentrate on a single point, but spreads over a wide surface. This distinguishes it from other recessed spotlights more oriented toward decorative accent lighting. Here the objective is coverage, and the result is a more enveloping outdoor lighting effect.

The aluminum body is a material that holds up well under outdoor use conditions. It does not rust easily and maintains its shape without deformation under temperature changes. The anodized black finish adds an additional layer of protection and gives the spotlight a sober appearance that fits both modern facades and more traditional settings.

The terrace, garden, patio, facade, an outdoor staircase or the edge of a path are spaces where this type of recessed fixture finds its natural place. On a paved terrace, for example, it can be installed flush with the floor to illuminate the side wall without taking up space or interfering with the furniture. In the garden, placed next to a wall or hedge, it projects light upward or sideways depending on the orientation in which it is installed.

The transparent glass diffuser does not filter or soften the light: it lets it pass through directly, which translates into greater intensity on the target surface. If what is sought is visibility and coverage in wide outdoor areas, this is precisely what this spotlight offers.

In terms of visual integration, the black of the body works well on dark pavements or on concrete surfaces, where it becomes practically invisible during the day. It can also be combined with other spotlights from the same line to create continuous lighting along a wall or perimeter.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed spotlight work directly with the domestic 230V electrical mains?

No. The GRUND BAÑADOR operates at 24VDC, so it requires a transformer or power supply to convert the mains voltage before connecting it. This component is not included and must be purchased separately.

Is the LED module included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The LED module is included as standard. There is no need to purchase any additional light source to get the spotlight up and running from the very first moment.

Do the spotlight's dimensions allow it to be installed in a standard floor recessed housing?

The total diameter is 92 mm and the depth is 92 mm. Before making the recess, it is advisable to verify these measurements precisely to ensure that the available space in the floor or installation surface is sufficient.
